This equipment generat es and uses radio frequency energy and if not inst alled and used
properly, t hat is, in st rict accordance wit h t he manufact urer's inst ruct ions, may cause
int erference t o radio and t elevision recept ion. It has been t ype-t est ed and found t o
comply wit h t he limit s for a class B comput ing device in accordance wit h t he
specificat ions in Subpart J Part 15 of FCC Rules, which are designed t o provide
reasonable prot ect ion against such int erference in a resident ial inst allat ion. However,
t here is no guarant ee t hat int erference will not occur in a part icular inst allat ion. If t his
equipment does cause int erference t o radio or t elevision recept ion, which can be
det ermined by t urning t he equipment on, t he user is encouraged t o t ry and correct t he
int erference by one or more of t he following measures:
If using an indoor ant enna, have a qualit y out door ant enna inst alled.
Re-orient t he receiving ant enna unt il int erference is reduced or eliminat ed.
Move t he receiver away from any wire runs t o t he cont rol/communicat or.
Plug t he cont rol/communicat or int o a different out let so t hat it and t he receiver are on
different branch circuit s.
If necessary, t he user should consult t he dealer or an experienced radio/t elevision
t echnician for addit ional suggest ions.
The user or inst aller may find t he following booklet prepared by t he Federal

LIMITATIONS OF THIS ALARM SYSTEM
While t his syst em is an advanced design securit y syst em, it does not offer guarant eed
prot ect ion against burglary, fire, or ot her emergency. Any alarm syst em, whet her
commercial or resident ial, is subject t o compromise or failure t o warn for a variet y of
reasons. For example:
Int ruders may gain access t hrough unprot ect ed openings or have t he t echnical
sophist icat ion t o bypass an alarm sensor or disconnect an alarm warning device.
Int rusion det ect ors (e.g. passive infrared det ect ors), smoke det ect ors, and many ot her
sensing devices will not work wit hout bat t eries, or if t he bat t eries are not put in
properly. Devices powered solely by AC will not work if t heir AC power supply is cut off
for any reason, however briefly.
Signals sent by wireless t ransmit t ers may be blocked or reflect ed by met al before t hey
reach t he alarm receiver. Even if t he signal pat h has been recent ly checked during a
weekly t est , blockage can occur if a met al object is moved int o t he pat h.
A user may not be able t o reach a panic or emergency but t on quickly enough.
While smoke det ect ors have played a key role in reducing resident ial fire deat hs in t he
Unit ed St at es, t hey may not act ivat e or provide early warning for a variet y of reasons in
as many as 35% of all fires according t o dat a published by t he Federal Emergency
Management Agency. Some of t he reasons smoke det ect ors used in conjunct ion wit h t he
Syst em may not work are as follows: Smoke det ect ors may not sense fires t hat st art
where smoke cannot reach t he det ect ors, such as in chimneys, in walls, or roofs, or on
t he ot her side of closed doors. Smoke det ect ors also may not sense a fire on anot her level
of a residence or building. A second floor det ect or, for example, may not sense a first
floor or basement fire. Moreover, smoke det ect ors have sensing limit at ions. No smoke
det ect or can sense every kind of fire every t ime. In general, det ect ors may not always
warn about fires caused by carelessness and safet y hazards like smoking in bed, violent
explosions, escaping gas, improper st orage of flammable mat erials, overloaded elect rical
circuit s, children playing wit h mat ches, or arson. Depending on t he nat ure of t he fire
and/or t he locat ion of t he smoke det ect ors, t he det ect or, even if it operat es as
ant icipat ed, may not provide sufficient warning t o allow all occupant s t o escape in t ime
t o prevent injury or deat h.
Passive Infrared Mot ion Det ect ors can only det ect Int rusion wit hin t he designed ranges
as diagrammed in t heir Inst allat ion and Set up Guide. Passive Infrared Det ect ors do not
provide volumet ric area prot ect ion. They do creat e mult iple beams of prot ect ion, and
Int rusion can only be det ect ed in unobst ruct ed areas covered by t he beams. They cannot
det ect mot ion or int rusion t hat t akes place behind walls, ceilings, floors, closed doors,
glass part it ions, glass doors, or windows. Mechanical t ampering, masking, paint ing or
spraying, of any mat erial on t he mirrors, windows, or any part of t he opt ical syst em can
reduce t heir det ect ion abilit y. Passive Infrared Det ect ors sense changes in t emperat ure;
however, as t he ambient t emperat ure of t he prot ect ed area approaches t he t emperat ure
range of 90 degrees t o 150 degrees Fahrenheit , t he det ect ion performance can decrease.

LIMITATIONS OF THIS ALARM SYSTEM (cont)
Alarm warning devices such as sirens, bells or horns may not alert people or wake up
sleepers who are locat ed on t he ot her side of closed or part ly open doors. If warning
devices sound on a different level of t he residence from t he bedrooms, t hen t hey are less
likely t o waken or alert people inside t he bedrooms. Even persons who are awake may
not hear t he warning if t he alarm is muffled by noise from a st ereo, radio, air
condit ioner, ot her appliances, or by passing t raffic. Finally, alarm warning devices,
however loud, may not warn hearing-impaired people or waken deep sleepers.
Telephone lines needed t o t ransmit alarm signals from a premises t o a cent ral
monit oring st at ion may be out of service or t emporarily out of service. Telephone lines
are also subject t o compromise by sophist icat ed int ruders.
However, even if t he syst em responds t o t he emergency as int ended, occupant s may
have insufficient t ime t o prot ect t hemselves from t he emergency sit uat ion. In t he case of
a monit ored alarm syst em, aut horit ies may not respond appropriat ely.
This equipment , like ot her elect rical devices, is subject t o component failure. Even
t hough t his equipment is designed t o last as long as 10 years, t he elect ronic component s
could fail at any t ime.
The most common cause of an alarm syst em not funct ioning when an int rusion or fire
occurs is inadequat e maint enance. This alarm syst em should be t est ed weekly t o make
sure all sensors are working properly.
Inst alling an alarm syst em may make one eligible for lower insurance rat es, but an
alarm syst em is not a subst it ut e for insurance. Homeowners, propert y owners, and
rent ers should cont inue t o act prudent ly in prot ect ing t hemselves and cont inue t o insure
t heir lives and propert y.
We cont inue t o develop new and improved prot ect ion devices. Users of alarm syst ems
owe it t o t hemselves and t heir loved ones t o learn about t hese development s.
