“Covid 19” this deadly virus changed our lives for good .

from the way we

communicate to the way we are being treated in hospitals . this contagious virus
transformed our hospitals for good. Previous pandemics and outbreaks resulted in
significant financial losses for hospitals (Matheny et al., 2007). During the
COVID-19 pandemic, however, hospitals were forced to (1) meet the complex and
resource-intensive needs of hospitalized COVID-19 patients while providing
routine care to non-COVID patients, (2) handle staffing shortages, (3) address
widened disparities in outcomes and access, and (4) deal with financial struggles
caused by the increased expenses and reduced utilization of non-COVID services
(Grimm, 2021). All of these are just examples of how hospitals faced this horrible
pandemics and how everything was in total mess in hospitals worldwide.

A lot of people know nothing about health care policy . The term “healthcare
policy” refers to the decisions, goals, and actions that determine how care is
administered and accessed. ((Ballotpedia, “Healthcare Policy in the United
States”: https://ballotpedia.org/Healthcare_policy_in_the_United_States)) For
example, policies can include legal and safety regulations by state or protocols
regarding how care and medicine are delivered to patients at a specific hospital.
“Healthcare policy” also refers to the policies set on a national level, in terms of
access to healthcare, coverage, and cost.

Subcategories of health policy include public health, global health, healthcare

services, health insurance, mental health, and pharmaceuticals.

Health care policy are very important because when the patient becomes aware of
health care policy , he will be able to know exactly what his rights are. Healthcare
policy is important because it helps establish guidelines that benefit patients,
healthcare organizations, and our healthcare system. Having protocols in place
can help prevent human error and poor communication around medical
decisions.

For nurses and health administrators, understanding and following policies can
help ensure that you deliver the best care to patients while using your knowledge
to help inform future policies. On a broader level, when patients take the time to
understand healthcare policy, they learn more about their rights.
How COVID – 19 Spreads ?

We know that the disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which spreads
between people in several different ways.

 Current evidence suggests that the virus spreads mainly between people
who are in close contact with each other, for example at a conversational
distance. The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in
small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe.
Another person can then contract the virus when infectious particles that
pass through the air are inhaled at short range (this is often called short-
range aerosol or short-range airborne transmission) or if infectious particles
come into direct contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth (droplet
transmission).
 The virus can also spread in poorly ventilated and/or crowded indoor
settings, where people tend to spend longer periods of time. This is because
aerosols can remain suspended in the air or travel farther than
conversational distance (this is often called long-range aerosol or long-
range airborne transmission).
 People may also become infected when touching their eyes, nose or mouth
after touching surfaces or objects that have been contaminated by the
virus.

Further research is ongoing to better understand the spread of the virus and
which settings are most risky and why. Research is also under way to study virus
variants that are emerging and why some are more transmissible. For updated
information on SARS-CoV-2 variants.
What is hospital policies ?

 Guide day to day and make sure everything is running as it is supposed to.

 Communicate expectations and standards to staff.

 Help mitigate risk by ensuring facilities comply with ever – changing rules
and regulations

 Set guidelines for operations and improvements and streamline processes

Why Health care policy is important ?

 Health care policy is important because it helps establish guidelines that

benefit patients , health care organization , and our health care system .
Having protocols in place can help prevent human error and poor
communication around medical decisions .
What is virtual medicine ?

 Virtual medicine is a model in which doctors or health care professionals

deal with patients from a distance using communication technologies such as
video chat , mobile app , or telephone.

Compare between the hospitals before and after

COVID – 19 .

 At the beginning of COVID – 19 pandemic , health care managers at

hospitals did not have sufficient experience to appropriately respond to
COVID – 19 out break due to a lack of preparedness , many challenges arose
in the health care system , and each country developed and implemented
strategies depending on national policies . This study aimes to understand
challenges during the COVID – 19 pandemic and strategies used in Iranian
hospitals.

What are four categories of hospitals that become

developed after COVID – 19 ?
 Four categories were developed :

Capacity expansion , management affairs , diagnostic services , and therapeutic

services each category consisted of 2-3 subcategories

How did COVID – 19 start ?

 Scientists first identifies a human coronavirus in 1965 . it caused a common

cold later that decade , researchers found a group of similar human and
animal viruses and named them after their crown like appearance.

How to know that you have COVID – 19 ?
