TRIBUTE TO MOM
We would have wished we were writing this tribute to your
loving memory mummy, maybe in another 20 years from
now. Indeed, you were a loving mom and grandmother to
us and the kids for you graced our lives with boundless love,
unwavering care, and an infectious zest for life.

And though you may have left this earthly realm, your spirit
continues to illuminate in our heart's memories of your
kindness, infectious laughter, and generosity.

We offered countless prayers for your health, a testament

to the deep affection and concern you inspired in us, but
God needed you now. For if your joyful presence wasn't
needed in Heaven, our dear Lord knew we still needed you
here.

So, while we mourn your physical absence, we take solace

in knowing that you only embarked on a new journey,
guided by the hands of the author of life itself and surely, we
all will meet again on resurrection morning.

Your legacy of love and compassion will live on in our hearts

forever. Your kind words, encouragement, and motherly
advice, we will never forget.

Rest with our dear Lord peacefully mommy knowing this,

Lynda, the kids, and I will always cherish you beyond
measure.

We will always love you.

TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED FRIEND ELDER MRS EKANEM ESUABANA

I received the sad news of the death of my friend and colleague, ELDER
MRS. EKANEM ESUABANA with rude shock . I would recall that since after
she had a fractured leg, she had not been her usual self. For many months her
lines were not connecting, I got disturbed and tried her daughter's but still got no
response. I concluded that my friend might have travelled out of the country.
Then one day I got a call from the daughter and in excitement I asked, ... Affi,
so how is my friend? I heard like a bomb shell "Mummy is gone". I asked how? and she narrated
the traumatic last days of their mother. Oh, what is life but a passing shadow and man but a breathe,
who like a flower blossoms in the morning and fades away by the evening.

I recalled our days in the late 1990s at the Department of Local Government Affairs in New
Secretariat, Calabar. Eka, as I used to call her while she called me May, was not just a colleague but
a sister encouraging and so supportive in our daily work routine. Whenever she went on official
assignments to the LGCs and was in Obanliku she visited my mother. On return, she spent time
giving me details about my home including the reception by my family.

We followed each other's career progress through and I learned a lot from her. As a well trained
Town Planner, she was ex cellent. There was no life without prayers and sometimes she would invite
me for special prayers in her house. My son reminded me how on my appointment as Head of Service
in 2012, she personally supervised the preparations in the house for my swearing-in reception. She
also ensured that I attended every celebration in her family. In 2017, she informed me that the
position of DG, SON was allocated to Cross River State and advised that I take it in her place due
to the protracted leg fracture, so I applied. Unfortunately, I was denied letter of recommendation
from my state so the position went to Delta state. Eka and I never stopped lamenting on that matter
but resigned to God who is the Author and Finisher of our Faith.

My Friend Eka, had such a golden heart. She was compassionate dispassionate, hardworking, sincere
and kindness personified. Therefore, I implore the children to be consoled by the good life she lived,
her dedication to God and Service to Humanity. Her loss is not only to the family but to her friends
as well as many others whom she had impacted upon their lives.

May the gentle soul of ELDER MRS. EKANEM ESUABANA rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Yours,
Ntunkae Dr. M. T. Ikwen, mni.

TRIBUTE TO A SENIOR SISTER

FROM ANOTHER MOTHER
MMA as I called you, your death is a real big blow to me. You have been a senior
sister to me since I first met you in 1986. You spontaneously and
unconditionally took me into your household and heart, something many
couldn't understand. I could walk freely into your house as I wanted. You were
there for me seeing me through the ups and downs of life. I cannot recount the
prayer sessions you had for me to see me through my life endeavours - from
Marriage, Children, Permanent Secretary and lastly Head of Service. I could tell
you alone my deepest pain and gossip and no one would hear.

You were a brave woman who offered me hope. A woman I drew a lot of
inspiration from. Yes, I understood you and took you as I saw you just as you
took me as you saw me.

May be in your usual fashion, you knew you were going and didn't want me to
mourn you too much. For I kept asking and worrying over you.

We cannot question God for He knows best.

Rest in Peace dear Mother! Sister! Friend! Confidant! Counsellor!!

week, you would get in touch to find out how l was fairing. When l couldn't

Tribute To a Great Woman

Ma,
Finding the right words feels daunting, but I must begin with a simple yet
profound "thank you."

From gifting me with a wonderful friend, praying with and for me, to extending
your boundless motherly care to me and my family, your generosity and
kindness knew no bounds.

Your prayers and unwavering support have been a source of strength and
comfort through both joyous and challenging times. Your concern for others
was limitless, reflecting the depth of your compassionate soul.

Though the ache of your absence is keenly felt, I must remember that God's
garden must be beautified, and there, your spirit shines even brighter. Please
give my regards to my mum; I imagine you both sharing laughter and joy
together.

Rest peacefully until we meet again.

With love and gratitude,

Ogechi Njoku
