Catalyst Technologies, a computer manufacturer, commenced the production of a model named tech-1 in the year
2012. From that point onward, the company has consistently succeeded in selling all the models manufactured
within the same year. However, owing to a defect, precisely 20% of the tech-1 computers produced by Catalyst
Technologies each year had to be discarded exactly two years later. In 2019, Catalyst Technologies introduced a new
model called tech-2, which was also well-received, and the company managed to sell all the tech-2 models
manufactured in that year itself. Despite being technologically advanced compared to tech-1, tech-2 had a higher
failure rate, with exactly 30% of the tech-2 models produced in any given year being discarded exactly two years
after manufacture.
The provided bar graph illustrates the number of tech-1and tech-2 models (In thousands) in use for each of the
years from 2017 to 2022. It is additionally known that 5000 units of tech-1 were discarded in the year 2021.
