“Do you follow your heart or use your head in business?”

Summary

The podcast "Do you follow your heart or use your head in business? (2023) by Paolo

Lobo, President of Proteic Bioscience, Dave Keighron, and Dr. Gelareh Farhadian argue the

difficult road founders face when they have issues in their business, and Lobo exposes his

experience. First, they discuss making big decisions; sometimes, choosing between what you

feel and the right thing to do is a challenge. In addition, they argue that business decisions are

about how to act; it does not matter if you follow your head or your heart; it is how the

decision is applied, and in different paths, it can correctly succeed. Moreover, Lobo talks

about his company and how it designs products to satisfy their customers and investors.

Summing up, he explains that his company's vision is to save as many lives as possible and

make an impact through artificial intelligence. He also affirms that biotechnology should

have more people involved to be able to get information to build businesses. In conclusion,

Lobo explains that he usually makes decisions with his heart, but you must consider the pros

and cons and what you want to achieve.

Analysis

The purpose is to inform and persuade entrepreneurs to be more aware and make

decisions because sometimes, choosing between what you feel and the right thing to do is

challenging. The audience is meant to be the entrepreneurs who face the difficulties of

making decisions facing the market trends and other factors that can lead them into different

paths, and how it is a challenge to choose between what you feel and the right thing to do

when a business is enrolled. Simultaneously, they discuss the main idea: business decisions

are about how to act; it does not matter if you follow your head or your heart. Indeed, it is

how the decision is applied and how it can be employed to complete the success. The podcast
3

is focused on Paolo Lobo's path, President of proteic bioscience, experience as an

entrepreneur in his company, and how they create products to save people's lives and

maintain their market investors on balance. This means the podcast is based on Lobo’s

experience, and they do not refer to other authors or articles; everything is based on their own

experiences.

Relevance + Applicability

The main idea of the podcast is clear. However, the hosts started to develop the topic.

When they asked Lobo what his business is, he spent almost half of the podcast explaining

their products and what the company is about instead of focusing on the main idea of

deciding to use their heads or follow their hearts when choosing the right path to take to grow

their idea. Hence, the author's talk could have been more practical since we know that making

decisions at a business level for new entrepreneurs is overwhelming. However, it is crucial to

focus on the business finality of the market and their contribution to society.

We agree with the author's conclusion that biotechnology should involve more people

to get information to build businesses to save lives. The implications can be related to society

and the market's investors. Indeed, We recommend listening to this podcast to anyone who is

starting to be interested in how to make decisions related to business. Nevertheless, in our

opinion, if you want relevant information and more depth on the topic, we recommend you

seek out more information on your own or listen to a more focused podcast.
