II. Course Description: This course designed to


make the student acquired the knowledges about
the importance of the nursing work in surgical
field specially in OT, in addition, OR nurse
after finishing this course should be able to
practice individualized, professional nursing
work as OR nurse on evidence based practice,
which addresses quality control and patient
safety and promote health, prevent illness and
injury and ease suffering, help in treatment and
promote rehabilitation, in addition OR nurse
should be able to deal with sterilization and
managing of the operating theater, working as
scrap and circulate nurse, in addition to use
the resources in optimal ways.

A . In the Knowledge and Understandings , by the end of
the course, the student will:

A1.Understand the importance of OR nursing specialty in


operating theaters.
A2. Achieve the proper methods of utilization and
maintenance of surgical instruments and devises needed for
different types of surgeries.
A3. Understand the supplies needed for different types of
surgeries.

A4. Understand how to do scrap and circulate work.


A5. Know the principles of sterilization.
A6. Understand the names of surgeries and marking of the
sites of surgeries.

B. Intellectual skills: The student will be able to:

B1. Able to do all the recording and documentation work


(electronic and paper) including the law points of surgeries.

B2. Able to prepare operating room, table, instruments,


devises, supplies, and patient for surgery.
B3. Able to washing (disinfect) his hands and forearms,
wear the gown and gloves and for deal with the sterilized
instruments and sheets, gauze in proper way.

B4. Able to share in surgeries as nurse scrap and practicing


physiotherapy.

C.Professional and practical skills: The student will be


able to:

C1.Do disinfection and sterilization of all surgical tools


needed for surgeries.
C2.Prepare the operating room, table, supplies and surgical
instruments, medical devices that are needed for specific
surgery.
C3.Check the medical file of the patient (making sure that
he / she is the clipped patient) including the name and the
site of surgery, lab. tests, radiology, law consents, medical
fitness, readiness of the patients and the finance paper.
C4. Work as circulate and scrap nurse and perform
rehabilitation.
