Within the University, the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is a highly interdisciplinary research
centre (IC), integrating experimental biology and computational biology approaches in order to develop the foundation
of a future predictive, preventive and personalized medicine.

We are looking for an experienced Python developer to work in the scientific research projects and application
development including data curation & extract-transform-load (ETL) pipelines, data analysis, sharing and exploration
platforms. The developer will be involved in the globally important projects like ORCHESTRA
(https://orchestra-cohort.eu/).

Your Role...

• Contribute to the collection of users’ requirements and design of new features Write reliable and efficient code to
support project deliverables and application development
• Work closely with other team members aiming for a high level of quality and user satisfaction
• Understand the challenge and propose a solution if necessary
• Design and develop tests using test automation suits
• Become a key actor of continuous improvement and innovation within the group

What we expect from you…

• A University Master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in computation, bioinformatics, or mathematics with the
relevant programming knowledge in Python
• A technology enthusiast with wide technological adaptability
• Autonomous, dynamic and curious
• Specific requirement - Python – Strong industrial or academic research experience in Python using following
technologies or libraries (must have)
• Python datatypes and data-structure
• Python iterators and functions

• Python object and classes
• Numpy and Pandas
• Additional Python requirements (recommended)
• Data science packages including Scikit-learn
• Web framework including Flask and/or Django
• Working knowledge of connecting with data-base systems
• Working knowledge of LINUX based systems
• Shell and/or Awk
• Experience in deploying applications
• Working knowledge of code versioning systems (e.g. git)
• Expertise in the following is considered an advantage but is NOT mandatory:
• Working knowledge of clinical, pharma, or biological data
• R & Bioconductor
• RDBMS, SQL
• NoSQL databases like Mongo, REDIS
• Elastic
• A fully funded Scientific Application Developer position with a competitive salary based on the candidate's

• Valuable experience in EU Commission funded projects and pandemic response preparedness initiatives
• Participate in the building of state-of-the-art translational medicine platform to enable precision medicine
