1. Hearing God’s voice - Col 2:10

d. Divine revelation dilutes the authority of Scripture

2. Paul’s Progressive Revelation


a. It was by revelation - Gal 1:11-12, Acts 26:16, 2 Cor 12:1, 1 Cor 13:12
b. It is revealed to him – Eph 3:4-5
c. It was completely revealed – Eph 3:8-10
d. To fulfil the word of God – Col 1:25
e. Understand all things – 2 Tim 2:7, 2 Tim 3:17

3. Gifts that edify – Ephesians 4


a. Christ gave gifts to build a body - Eph 4:11-12
b. They were given ‘til’ a certain point - Eph 4:13
c. Established so that we can grow in him – Eph 4:14-16

4. Perfect in Christ
a. Every man perfect in Christ – Col 1:28
b. Full assurance of understanding – Col 2:2
c. Complete in Christ – Col 2:10
d. Stand perfect and complete in the will of God – Col 4:12
e. As many as be perfect – Phil 3:15
f. Are ye made perfect by the flesh? – Gal 3:3
g. Be perfect – 2 Cor 13:11

5. Corinthians and spiritual gifts – 1 Corinthians 13


a. Corinthians were not the sharpest tools – 1 Cor 3:1-3
b. The gifts will fail when the perfect comes – 1 Cor 13:8-10
c. They had incomplete knowledge – 1 Cor 13:9
d. The perfect will help them grow – 1 Cor 13:11
e. ‘I will know’ - 1 Cor 13:12, Gal 4:9
f. The perfect = the doctrine of the Body of Christ – the perfect man.
