INTRODUCTION
Every Christian is not called to be a pastor, but every Christian is called to ministry. God wants to express
his power and his love through us. Service in Christ is not optional for a Christian. In God’s army there are
no volunteers; everyone is drafted into service (Romans 12:11).
THE ANOINTING
The anointing of the Holy Spirit is an indispensable requirement for success in the ministry (Luke 24:49).
The anointing is divine enabling. Every leader needs unction of the spirit to function (Act 10:38). Being
spirit filled has always been a requirement for attaining leadership in the church (Act 6:3)
INTRODUCTION
The manifestation of the gifts of the spirit is for the purpose of profiting for every member of the body of
Christ. The “gifts” of the spirit are not gifts in the sense that the believer owns and operates it whenever he
wants to. They are gifts of the Holy Ghost, manifested through individual believers as the Spirit of God
wills, in other to profit the whole assembly.
3. The Utterance or Inspirational Gifts: These are gifts that say something.
(a) Prophecy. - The Holy Spirit enables us, with this gift, to communicate a special message from
God to a person or people, which would be in the language of the hearer(s) and edify,
strengthen, encourage and comfort person(s). I Cor. 14:1-6, 22-25, 39-40.
(b) Diverse Kinds of Tongues. - This gift of the Holy Spirit enables us to speak in language
(whether earthly or angelic) which we have not previously learned and which edify the church.
Acts 2:4, Acts 10:46.
(c) Interpretation of Tongues. This gift of the Holy Spirit enables us to interpret the meaning of
an unknown /unlearned tongue in an understandable language. Dan. 5:25-28, 1 Cor. 14:13,26-
28.
INTRODUCTION
The New Testament writers many times used human anatomy to explain the function of the Body of Christ.
This functioning of the Body of Christ is similar to the operating of the human body, which is composed of
trillions of cells, a complex bone structure, musculature, digestive system, gland system, heart and lungs,
etc. All of these arts are very different in function and activity, yet all are so very necessary for the body to
operate normally and healthfully.
