Count nouns
Count nouns have singular and plural forms:
tree (singular) – trees (plural)
apple (singular) – apples (plural)
Use There's and a/an with singular count nouns:
There's a tree.
There's an apple.
Use There are with plural count nouns:
There are trees.
There are apples.
Use no / some / a lot of / a number (e.g. two) with plural count
nouns:
There are no lemons.
There are some apples.
There are a lot of trees.
There are two boys.
Non-count nouns
Non-count nouns have no singular or plural form:
grass
rain
snow
Use There's with non-count nouns:
There's grass.
There's snow on the mountain.
Use no / some / a lot of with non-count nouns.
There's no rain.
There's some grass.
There's a lot of water in the ocean

How are you? I'm great! My new town is really cool. I like
nature, and there's a lot of nature here! There's a big, tall
mountain near my house. There's a forest on the mountain, with
a lot of trees. There's snow on the mountain in January and
February. There's a small lake in my neighborhood, and I run
next to the water in the morning. There are no flowers now,
because it's January.

Hi, Marisa!

It's great to hear from you. Your town sounds wonderful. There's
nature everywhere! My new town is very different. It's really a modern
city. There are no snowy mountains or forests here! But there are nice
parks with some interesting plants – I go for walks there on weekends
– and there's a lot of grass. It's nice to sit on the grass in summer, but
not now, in January! When you want some city life, please come visit
me!

Hi, Jayro!

How are you? I'm cool! My new neighborhood is really boring. There's a lot of trees here! There's a
small supermarket. There's a movie theater and we go on the weekends. There are no parks in my
neighborhood. There are some mountais. We have a lot of nice plants in our garden. There is no
snow on the mountain. There are no Café but there is restaurant. There are some hotels. There are no
stores near here.

Marcel: I like cities and nature. I want to go to Cayambe Coca
National Park in Ecuador. It's an interesting park because there are
two parts. There's a cold area with mountains and a big volcano. The
Cayambe Volcano is very high, and it always has some snow on it.
Then, there's a part with forests, waterfalls, and lakes. The weather is
hot in this part. It's good for hiking and climbing. The city of Quito is
near the park. It's only 40 km away and there are cafés, restaurants,
and museums there. I think that's a good combination!

 Why do you want to go there?

I like cities. There are a lot of trees here. There are some apples. There is a big forest.
There are a lot of different plants in the park.
