Life is a mirror
It reflection your action
Life is a drama

The frog is
Again in the hole
Yesterday, the day before
And for many a day
Did my wife and I
Prod it with a twinge
As we did whinge.
On sudden dawn
Do I decide:
Let the water whirl
And suds twirl
And by itself drain.
Ooss goes the anger.
Samility swallows the sixth sense.

It makes you act

Life is a navel
It makes you an author
Life is a poem
It makes you a poet
Life is a lesson
It makes you read

Standing, walking or sitting
She fumbles with the sheet
Her teasing effort does beat
That of the mentally retarded
Dressing, eating or talking.

Reading

A life of glory
And create history,

A drama or a novel

Hence your need

Or a book on travel

Twice to read

A journal or a paper

And note down lines

Or a common brochure

That your talk shines

Once you read

With relevant quote

As per your need;

Yourself to promote.

Skip what is boring

And select what is luring,
Nor do you bother
To note down in paper
Whatever you come across
For much of it is dross:
Still read you must
Since this way is the best
For enriching your language
And improving your knowledge.
History and classics
Are certainly the basies
Of scholarly life;
Models are rife
Of scientists and writers,
Artists and rulers,
Choose you can
Anyone and plan

Great in the need

Many times to read
Texts and notes
That your satchel totes,
Memorise and write
Until you are right.
The marks you score
Will make you soar
In job and status.
Hard work matters.
Time will be plenty
After three and twenty
For song and fun
Which now you shun.
Todays study
Will determine destiny.

Fancied harvests
When I did sow
I didnt know
That a storm would hit
And damage every list
Just before th harvest
When hope was at its best.
Though I know
That again if I sow
A storm may hit
And damage every bit
Just before harvest
When hope is at its best,
Still I sow.
Thus do I go
From one hope to another
Seeing each wither.
Harvests may fail;
But fancies ever sail.
On the wind of hope
As if on dope
Fancies ever sail
And joy never they fail.
So sorrow of the morrow
Is reserved for tomorrow.

Impossible
Itself says,
Im possible
Life is nowhere
Itself says,
Life is now here
If you cant do it
Who can do it?
If you cant do it now.
When can you do it?
Its not too late
Start now
You will be the winner
Defeats are stepping stones
For success
Have dreams and
have confidence.

BEST THOUGHTS
Nice line:

Important in life:

You are born without

anything
But you die with you name
So that name must
not be a letter
It must be a history

Never shange you

originality
Because
No one can play you role
Better than you

- Hitler

German proverb:
There is no use
running fast
When you are on the
wrong road
So, first you choose the
correct way in your life

Be a Greatman:
An average man
prays to god,
Dont give me the
problems
But
A greatman prays

Nice words:
If you salute your duty
You need not salute anybody
But if you pollute your duty
You have to salute everybody.

But, how long?

But, what next?

Earth may die on day!

Nothing or something or

many things?

Creation, again?

Hard to understand!

But, how long?

What do I mean?

After all, what is life?

Is it my body?

Hard to understand!

Is it my soul?

Difficult to define!

Is it my name?

A few understand

After death where goes

A few realize

my soul?

A few express

Come again this way and

But for many the

if so

questions remain

In what form? Who

The moment you are in Tension

You will dose your Attention
This will put you in total Confusion
And you will feel the Irritation
Which might spoil the personal Relation
Ultimately you wont get the Co-operation
Which will cause complication
You will then need to watch the BP with Caution
And you might have to take Medication
Instead understand the Situation
Try to think of a solution
Many problems will be solved by discussion
Which will work out better in your Profession
This is not my free suggestion
It is only for prevention
If you understand by intention
You will never again feel Tension

JAWS:
SOFTWARE FOR THE
VISUALLY CHALLENGED
Jaws is a powerful software program
designed to work with a speech
synthesizer to improe the productivity level
of the visually challenged. JAWS reads
information on the screen using
synthesized speech. JAWS provides
many useful commands that make it
easier to use programs, edit documents,
and read web pages.

maintain and improve the product.

Oppermann and Henter regularly added
minor and major features and frequently
released new versions. In 1993, Henterjoys released a highly-modified version of
JAWS for people with learning disabilities.

JAWS was originally created for the

Operating System MS-DOS. It was one
of the several screen readers giving blind
users access to text-mode MS-DOS
applications. A feature unique to JAWS
at the time was its use of cascading
menus, in the style of the popular lotus 12-3 application. What set JAWS apart from
other scree readers of the era was its use
of macros that allowed users to customize
the user interface and work better with
various applications.

In 1992, as Microsoft Windows became

more popular, Oppermann began work on
a new version of JAWS. A principal design
goal was not to interfere with the natural
user interface of Windows and to continue
to provide a strong macro facility. Test and
beta versions of JAWS for Windows (JFW)
were shown at conferences throughout
1993 and 1994. During this time,
developer Gien Gordon started working
on the code, ultimately taking over its
development when Oppermann was hired
by Microsoft in November 1994. Shortly
afterwards, in January 1995, JAWS for
Windows 1.0 was released.

Ted Henter and Rex Skipper wrote the

original JAWS code in the mid-1980s.
releasing version 2.0 in mid-1990. Skipper
left the company after the release of
version 2.0, and following his departure,
Charies Oppermann was hired to

speech synthesizer that works with the

Microsoft Windows sound card. Right from
the start, without any additional hardware
or softward, the user can add the power
of JAWS for Windows in his or her
computer at home, or in laptop, at school,
or in the office without the need to
purchase an additional synthesizer or
move one from system to system. This
systhesizer features support for seven
languages, including U.S. English, British
English, German, Italian, French, Castilian
Spanish and Latin Spanish. Optionally,
you may choose DEC talk hardware
synthesizer the very best in synthesizers.
JAWS offers comprehensive screen
reading capability that enables a blind or
visually impaired person to use computers
similar to a sighted person.
JAWS helps the visually challenged
persons during typing by providing
speech output through the multimedia
speakers. Hence while typing, the person
is fully aware of what is being typed. Any
key or command pressed is spoken
JAWS will also speak when any event
occurs on the PC. For example, if a dialog
box appears on the scree, right choice and
answer the dialog box. If a menuis
opened, JAWS will read out the select
menu item and so on.
JAWS also provide many shortcut
keys to help the Visually Challenged
person. For example, if they need to know
123456
123456
123456
52
123456

which application is currently active, they

can read the title of the active window
by using insert-T. if they need to know
the font displayed on a particular line in
Word, they will use insert-F. The blind/VI
person is taught to use keyboard
commands instead of mouse commands.
For example, instead of clicking on the
start button, they will use ctro-Esc, which
brings up the start menu. Instead of
clicking the mouse on menu items, they
will use the Alt-key. They learn the
keyboard commands that are available for
every Windows application. For example,
to change the font for the selected text,
they will use ctro-shift-F. JAWS can be
configured with different voices and rate
of speech. It can also be configured to
speak more for the beginner and less for
the advanced user. It can be configured
to speak.
Everyone has been searching for a
screen reader with comprehensive
internet capabilities. Now, the search has
ended. The latest version of JAWS for
Windows has the ablity to read almost
every page found on the Internet using
Microsoft Internet Explorer. With a simple
keystroke, pages with graphics, complex
columns, and even frames are reformatted
into an easy-to-read single column.
Thus JAWS play a vital role in the
development of the visually challenged.

LIFE
Our life is our experience by the lake.
Every new and then someone or
something will come and toss a stone
in our wates. It is human enough to
get disturbed by such unpleasant
events and situations. We should live
ourselves time to heal, allow the
ripples of disturbing thoughts to die
down and regain our natural state
agan. And most importantly move on.
It is only when we put our minds into
the action replay mode, and
regurgitate the unpleasantness of the
incident that we tend to feel depressed.

EASY AND DIFFICULT

To judge mistakes of others is easy.
To recognize our own mistakes is difficult.
To hurt someone who loves us is easy.
To heal the wound is difficult
To dream every night is easy.
To fight for a dream is difficult.
To enjoy life every day is easy.
To give its real value is difficult.
To say we love is easy.
To show it everyday is difficult.
To read this is easy.
To follow it is difficult.

TO BE AND NOT TO BE
Be rich not in money
But in heart
Be poor, not in studies
But in bad habits
Be honest, not in bribery
But in good habit
Be neat, not in mind
Bu tin character
Be good, not in acting
But in doing
Be a child, hot in rebelling
But in being active

MAN
If a man speaks too much he is talkative
If he speaks too little he is reserved
If he spends too much he is a spendthrift
If he spends too little he is a miser
If ho advances too much he is wayward
If ho lags behind he is laggard
If he insists too much he is obstinate
If he insists too little he is fickle
If ho is accommodating ho makes himself cheap
If he remains stiff he is proud!

THREE ELEMENTS OF THE

STUDENT, TEACHER RELATIONSHIP
The relationship between student and teacher, if it is to be maximally
productive, must reflect certain attitudes and commitments of each to the
other. Specifically, three elements must exist in a students relationship to
a teacher:
First, the student must respect his teacher and hold him in the highest
esteem, for this is a necessary prerequisite to accepting his advice.
Regarding someone who is only giving factual information, and not assuming
the role of mentor, this condition becomes less critical. In relation to a
spiritual advisor, however, the student needs to feel deference and admiration,
for this creates a willingness and desire to receive the teachers instruction,
even though this instruction may be uncomfortable and disconcerting at
times.
Secondly, the student must trust the teachers concern. The student
must believe that the teacher always has his best interests in mind. If the
student would sense some ulterior motive, some self interest, or even
carelessness in the teachers instruction, he would not be able to surrender
whole heartedly to the teachers advice, and this would make the entire
exchange meaningless.
Finally, the student must commit himself to following the instruction
with inmost discipline for only then can the intended effect be realized. Just
as a doctors orders must be followed precisely, since failure to do so could
cause more harm than good, so a teachers prescription must be obeyed
with equal conscientiousness and deference to his superior knowledge
and authority.
The teacher also has three levels ol responsibility to his students in
relation to giving advice:

Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya

The first is fulfillment of the prerequisite of getting to know his students

individually, to probe the innermost depths of their hearts as well as
examining the outer details of their lives. As the teachers familiarity grows,
so the potency of his advice deepens proportionately.
Secondly, the teacher must express love and affection toward his
students. It is this affection that dissolves the students natural tendency to
resist being told what to do. Thus, the advice can penetrate more deeply
and effectively.
Finally, the teacher must take time to reflect upon his students progress,
refining and adjusting his vision of how best to influence them toward positive
change. This is an ongoing requirement because students quickly outgrow
old advice, and the categories of what is beautiful and what is ugly change
with each new stain of growth.
More than any of the other skills, the skill of customizing advice is a
direct function of the teachers love for his students. The care, with which
he silts through various options, seeking that which will satisfy and beautify,
is truly an act of love. The measure of a teachers affection is reflected in
his concern for his students appearance that then personalities be
balanced and well proportioned, that they feel at peace with themselves
and their environment that they utilize their talents and fulfill their potential.
If the teachers instructions come from such a place of loving endearment,
then he will save his students much wasted effort in their journey toward
self fulfillment and service of God. In contrast, the advice of a teacher who
lacks such particularized concern will be less potent. His cliches and
generalizations evidence his own immaturity and narrow mindedness, factors
which make his instruction more arbitrary and, necessarily, less penetrating.

ANNUAL REPORT
2010 2011
COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE (Autonomous)
The college was started in 1964 with the blessings
of Srimat Swami Madhavanandaji Maharaj and has
since completed 47 years of purposeful service to
the student community and to the society.
The college follows the great ideals placed before
the country by Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda
and Mahatma Gandhi. The institution believes that
the greatness of a man is to be judged by his attitude,
outlook, and devotion rather than by the work he
does. The youth of the nation should be trained to
develop spiritual strength, intellectual independence and moral character. They must also learn
discipline and develop the capacity to work in co-operation with others. The college has adopted the
following Mission Statement:
"The College has a Unique Mission of developing the youth by imparting intellectual
training; equipping them with vocational skills so as to make them employable; inculcating
in them the right attitudes, values, and moral character; and developing a holistic
personality of its students with a balanced development of head, heart, and hand."
The activities of the college are organized with these ideals and mission in view. During the last few
years, the college has seen much improvement in its infrastructure and other facilities.
The college is in its twenty-ninth year of autonomy. It offers graduate courses in English Literature,
Co-operation, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, and Computer Science; Postgraduate
courses in Co-operation, Social Work (with Human Resource Management and Community
Development as specialization), Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry; MPhil courses in Tamil,
Co-operation, Social Work, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science; and PhD
courses in Tamil, English, Co-operation, Social Work, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science.
The college also offers MCA, BCom (Cooperation), BSc (Computer Science), BCom (CA), BCom,

The college imparts man-making and character-building education. This has been made possible by
giving value education at the undergraduate level itself. Daily prayers and weekly bhajans with
spiritual talks are a part of the academic programme. NSS/NCC are compulsory components of all
the undergraduate students (both aided and self-financing courses) under Part-IV of the curriculum.
During the first year, the college also offers a course in computer awareness to all the undergraduate
students of non-computer streams with the help of the MCA department.
The college has been re-accredited with B grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation
Council (NAAC).

In the Indian system of education, certain moral

and mental qualities were insisted upon as
essential for studentship. Learning was a part of
Indian culture. Learning was regarded as a process
of discipline through which one served God and
society. Knowledge was sacred and students were
instructed to properly receive and apply it. Along
with the qualities like desire to learn, regularity in
studies, reflecting and understanding them,
developing concentration and memory and
developing judgement and discrimination, the
students were expected to lead a disciplined life,
show due respect to parents, teachers and other
elders, and learn the art of living.
But Swami Vivekananda understood that such qualities of mind were possible
only in a strong body, with muscles of iron and nerves of steel, as he put it.
He wanted the students first to be physically strong and active. He said: Be
strong, my young friends, that is my advice to you. You will be nearer to
heaven through football than through the study of the Gita. These are
bold words, but I have to say them, for I love you. I know where the shoe
pinches. I have gained a little experience. You will understand the Gita better
with your biceps, your muscles, a little stronger. So he wanted education to
promote strength and manliness an education that equally developed the
head, heart and hand of every student.
