The Feast of the Black Nazarene was celebrated by the San Carlos Seminary
community last January nine by joining the midnight mass at Quirino Grandstand.

The mass was celebrated by His Eminence Jose F. Cardinal Advincula, the Archbishop
of Manila. In his homily, the archbishop put into words the longing of the people gathered at the
site: “makita si Hesus, makita ni Hesus, at maipakita si Hesus” (to see Jesus, to be seen by
Jesus, and to show Jesus to others). The Cardinal also noted that it is the first “traslacion” that
will be held in four years. The Mass was attended by several Bishops and government officials.

This year, the number of people that participated in the traslacion totaled to an
estimated six million people, three times more than the expected number by the local
government of Manila. The practice of traslacion was put off for four years due to the pandemic
that devastated the Philippines. The Traslacion of the black Nazarene lasted for 15 hours. The
image of the Black Nazarene passed through the doors of Quiapo Church at 7:44 pm on the
same day.
