Sub- Use of insulation paint on over line structure.

Ref- (i) Your letter no L.248.VII.BB .593 dated 09.11.2011
(ii) RDSO's office letter no, TI/OHE/EC-AC/09 dated 08.07,2010.

In Reference to the above letter (i), undersign was nominated to inspect the ROB
site at Pat iPul in Kalyan and the insulation scheme adopted here by CR for energizing
the OHE by 25 kv ace OHE under this ROB was energized on 25 kV ac in Ma/2009
with very less long term clearance of 186 mm instead of 250mm by providing the

surface of ROB with, composite High Voltage Insulation coating of DCNV corning. USA
/Oriental enterprise.
The site was inspected along with SiDEETTrd/kalyan. The condition of coating
was found to be in good condition and there were no signs of chipping off of paint or
flashing marks The average tripping per month for CB1851 is 3 and CB 1853 is 6 which
is very reasonable. These tripping cannot be attributed to the reduced clearances.
After the inspection of site and discussion with the field officers, the composite
insulation scheme using DOW corning coating done by M/s Oriental Enterprise as
adopted by CR is found to be satisfactory working and can be applied at other such
critical location also .RDSO has done a electrical clearance study for Mumbai Suburban
area where the height of ROB's are very low and their raising/ new construction is
extremely ocstiy and very difficult due to heavy road traffic

Conclusion: Based on t e -ie• experience ma
it is recommended that with the provision of composite high voltage insulation
coating as provided by CR under patripul, the minimum head room of 4.75
mt. can be permitted for electrification with 25 kV ac traction.
It has the approval of competent authority.
