6. Prove that the area of a trapezium ABCD = 2 (AB + CD) × CM where, CM is the distance
between parallel sides AB and CD (see figure).

7. Draw a line segment 6.5 cm long and draw its perpendicular bisector.
8. Find the lateral surface area of a right circular cone of height 24 cm and base radius 7 cm.

9. In the given figure, PQ || SR and PS || RQ. Find the value of x.

10. The percentage of marks obtained by a student in Mathematics in five monthly unit tests
are given below:
Unit test I II III IV V
Percentage of marks obtained 69 71 73 68 74
Find the probability that the student gets more than 70% marks in the next unit test.

Section C

11. There were 35 students in a hostel. Due to the admission of 7 new students, the expenses
of the mass were increased by ` 42 per day, while the average expenditure per head
diminished by ` 1. What was the original expenditure of the mass?

12. The average weight of A, B and C is 45 kg. If the average weight of A and B be 40 kg and
that of B and C be 43 kg, then find the weight of B.

13. ABC is a triangle, right angled at C. A line through the mid-point M of hypotenuse AB and
1
parallel to BC intersects AC at D. Show that CM = MA = 2 AB.

14. Two congruent circles intersect each other at points A and B. Through point A, any line
segment PAQ is drawn, so that P and Q lie on the two circles. Prove that BP = BQ.

15. Construct an equilateral triangle whose altitude measures 4.5 cm.

16. Construct a parallelogram whose adjacent sides are 4 cm and 7.5 cm and adjacent angles
are given in the ratio 1 : 2, respectively.
17. In the given figure, M is the centre of the circle and chords AB and CD are perpendicular
to each other. If ∠MAD = 𝑥° and ∠BAC = 𝑦°, then

(i) Express ∠AMD in terms of 𝑥°.

(ii) Express ∠ABD in terms of 𝑦°.
(iii) Prove that 𝑥° = 𝑦°.

18. Squares each of side 6 cm are cut-off from the four corners of a sheet of tin measuring 42
cm × 30 cm. The remaining portion of tin sheet is made into an open box by folding up the
flaps. Find the capacity of the box.

Section D

19. Mean of the 50 observations was found to be 80.4. But later on, it was discovered that 96
was read as 69 at one place. Find the correct mean.

20. The expenditure of a family on different heads in a month is given below:

Head Food Education Clothing House rent Others Savings

Expenditure 4000 2500 1000 3500 2500 1500

Draw a bar graph to represent the data above.

21. In ∆ABC, the perpendicular from vertices A and B on their opposite sides meet (when
produced) the circumcircle of the triangle at points D and E, respectively. Prove that
arc CD ≅ arc CE.

22. In the given figure, AB is a diameter of the circle with centre O. DO is parallel to CB and
∠DCB = 120°. Calculate ∠DAB, ∠DBA, ∠DBC and ∠ADC.
