V. READING COMPREHENSION
Apple in September 2022 released the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro models, but we've been hearing rumors
about the iPhone 15 since well before the latest iPhones became available for purchase.
The iPhone 15 is a few months away, but it's hard for Apple to keep secrets about the iPhone lineup
because there are so many different suppliers involved, some of whom end up leaking information. We
are expecting a total of four iPhone 15 models in the same sizes as the iPhone 14 models, including two
6.1-inch iPhones and two 6.7-inch iPhones. One of the 6.1inch iPhones will be the standard iPhone 15,
2
while one of the 6.7-inch models will be an iPhone 15 "Plus". The other 6.1 and 6.7-inch iPhones will be
higher-end and more expensive "Pro" models. rumor (n): tin đồn purchase (n,v): mua bán

An unidentified flying object, or UFO, is anything in the sky that the person who sees it cannot
explain. Some people believe UFOs are alien spacecraft. However, most scientists believe that it
can be easier to explain UFOs. A UFO has different descriptions. It can take the form of a disk,
triangle or even an egg. After a sighting of a disk-shaped UFO in the 1940s, the term “flying saucer”
became popular. It soon became of fashionable to call all UFOs flying saucers. Nowadays, there
are records of thousands of UFO sighting. There are photographs of UFOs and conversations with
the people who saw UFOs. In the 1950s, a government asked a group of scientists to study
hundreds of sightings. However, most sightings were just space objects like stars, planets or
meteors. A lot of other sightings were only aircraft, birds or hot gases. However, such things didn’t
stop people from reporting UFOs. By the mid-1960s, there were even more sightings of UFOs than
ever. People also found that most UFO are alien sightings happened in bad weather. But
governments around the world still believed that UFOs were unreal. Other scientists agreed. But it
was hard to explain why UFOs still appeared. Nowadays, researchers believe that UFOs might be
visitors from space.

V. READING COMPREHENSION
Surveys show that kids are addicted to their smartphones and other mobile devices. So if it
seems as if teenagers are spending a lot of time connected to their screens, that’s because
they are. About a quarter of their day to be exact.
The average teen between 13 and 18 spends about nine hours a day consuming media –
and that is outside of their school and homework. Kids aged 8 to 12, or tweens, are spending
about six hours in front of the screens. They are watching shows, playing games, connecting
on social media, and listening to music – sometimes all at the same time. Multitasking is
the new normal when it comes to homework time. Most teens listen to music while doing
their homework, but many also watch TV (51%) and text (60%). Being asked teenagers say
they don’t think it is a problem and don’t believe it has any impact on the quality of their work.
Another fact surveys find that it seems kids spend more time-consuming media than
connecting with their parents and even their teachers.
1. Kids spend a quarter of their day connecting to their screens. ______
2. Tweens are spending five hours in front of the screen.
______

TEENAGERS AND PHONES
In a recent survey in my town, many teenagers said that they spent about six to nine hours a
day on their phones. This is a big problem because they won’t have enough time for other
activities. They play games online instead of going outside or meeting their friends. Many
teenagers go to bed very late because they like to use their phones at night. This is bad for
their health because they won’t get enough sleep. Teenagers need at least eight hours of
sleep every night. They get tired, and it might affect how they do at school.
I have some ideas about how to help teenagers with this problem. I think that schools should
create lots of after-school activities so that teenagers can have fun with their friends. Parents
shouldn’t let young children use phones. They can also set a rule at home about not using
phones during meal times and other family activities. I believe that with the help of schools
and parents, teenagers will be able to reduce their time on phones.
13. According to the survey, teens spend three hours a day on their phones. ______
