Method of Measurement Scaffolding
Method of Measurement Scaffolding
METHOD OF MEASUREMENT
(1) This category covers scaffolding erection work at site. This scope includes all preparation works,
safety control around pipe rack, permanent equipment, buildings, etc.
(2) Unless otherwise noted, the following measurement methods and units shall be applied to the
scaffolding work
(3) The work progress of each work category specified in Price Table-2 of Annex 3-1 is measured when
the handover tag for scaffolding structure are submitted to Contractor with necessary reports and
the inspection results are accepted by responsible supervisors.
(4) Hire period of scaffolding structure shall commence after installation of safe-to-use tag by the
Subcontractor following Contractor’s acceptance and expiry date of hire shall be after the receipt of
written instruction to dismantle from the Contractor.
(5) Modification work shall be measured only by manpower hourly rate which is specified in Table-2 of
Annex3-1 Price Table.
(6) Rental duration shall be measured on a daily basis for progress payment.
The Scaffold area for suspending type scaffolding shall be computed as follows;
1) Width (W) and length (L) of scaffold area shall be measured from centre of the standard (vertical
post) of the scaffolds.
Example
- If a scaffold is suspended from 15m elevation from ground, the rate for 10 ~ 20 m height band
shall be applied.
The scaffold volume for tower type scaffolding for Pipe Rack shall be computed as follows;
1) Width (W) and length (L) of scaffold shall be measured from centre of the standard (vertical post)
of the scaffolds.
2) Vertical Height (H) of scaffold shall be measured from the base of the scaffolding to the top most
level of the scaffold.
3) Erection & dismantle rates shall be applied to the total volume of scaffolding in cubic meter
according to the elevation of the scaffolds.
4) Handover tag for scaffolding structure shall be submitted and measured upon completion of
each scaffolding structure for pipe rack access tower.
- If a tower type scaffold is erected on ground elevation and is 25m tall with one board level, the
10m bottom section of the scaffold shall be charged at the rate for 0 ~ 10 m height band, the
next 10m section shall be charged at the rate for 10 ~ 20 m height band and the top 5m section
shall be charged at the rate for 20 ~ 30 m height band.
- If a 25m tall tower type scaffold with one boarded level is erected at 5m elevation from ground,
the bottom most 5m section of the scaffold shall be charged at the rate for 0 ~ 10 m height
band, the next 10m section of the scaffold the rate for 10 ~ 20 m height band shall be applied
and for the top 10 m section of the scaffold the rate for 20 ~ 30m height band shall be applied.
The scaffold volume for tower type scaffolding for equipment shall be computed as follows;
1) Horizontal Equipment
2) Vertical Equipment
- Measurement of the above Scaffold volume covers overall tube structure and only highest level
wooden planks
The scaffold area for additional platform for equipment shall be computed as follows;
1) Width and length of scaffold shall be measured from centre of the standard (vertical post) of the
scaffolds.
2) Should any scaffolds require more than one level of boarding, the boarding/platform shall be
charged at the rate applied to elevation of the additional boarding from ground.
3) Handover tag for scaffolding structure shall be submitted and measured upon completion of
each scaffolding structure for equipment additional boarding / platform.
The progress of modification work for pre-installed scaffolding structure after issuance of handover
certificate shall be measured when it is completed and approved by Contractor.
To avoid any doubts, despite Contractor’s approval, in case that the modification work for the pre-
installed scaffolding structure shall be performed due to Subcontractor’s failure to meet Local
Regulatory Bodies / Company Specification, the modification work shall not be measured.
- C500 Barricade M2
Barrier shall be measured in square meters stating its height.
