MENU 1

This bright and easy to make project is to learn,

review and activate “food” vocabulary not only with
young learners, but also it will be a great speaking
activity for teenagers or EFL adults.

How to use:
- print the appropriate number of menus for everyone;
- ask students to name their restaurants on the front
page, draw drinks, starters, snacks, desserts and other
food, create the names of the dishes, write the prices
and even add the lists of ingredients if necessary;

Your MENUs are ready! Organize a speaking activity

involving students in the situations from real life:
- now students can have breakfast/lunch/dinner in various restaurants, cafes and pizzerias, try
different cuisines and order exotic food, discuss the prices, the most delicious/tasteless dishes, assess
the quality of service, being food critics, and speak about their preferences in food, give tips to waiters
or not;
- after all places have been visited, choose the best one by means of anonymous elections. Give
them small slips of paper where they must write the name of the restaurant they liked best or its
owner’s name and put them in the box. Then count the voices and announce the winner. S/he could
have a little prize. Attention! To vote for themselves is strictly prohibited.

Variation: students in pairs or mini groups talk about

the cafes proving their opinion, giving examples of
advantages and disadvantages of each one;

This activity will also help you activate other

corresponding vocabulary, necessary for debates. As
there are nither words nor notes in the pictures, you can
make these projects to teach target vocabulary in
different languages.

Enjoy!
