3. A square room is covered by a number of whole rectangular slabs of sides 60 cm by 42 cm. calculate the least
possible area of the room in square meters.
4. Four metal rods have lengths of 216cm, 324cm and 270cm. The rods are cut into shorter pieces of the same
length such that there is no metal left. How many pieces were obtained?
5. 40 cm3 of water is poured into an empty measuring cylinder. A stone of mass 129g is put into the cylinder. If
the density of the mixture of the stone is 8.6g/cm3, find the new reading of the cylinder.
6. A liquid spray of mass 384g is packed in a cylindrical container of internal radius 3.2 cm. Given that the
density of the liquid is 0.6g/cm3, calculate to 2dp the height of the liquid in the container.
7. A cylindrical container of diameter 42cm and height 30cm is one-third full of water. The container is filled
using a smaller cylindrical can of radius 4.2 cm and height 10cm. determine the number of full cans required
to fill the container.
8. Mary has 21 coins whose total value is Ksh. 72. There are twice as many five shillings coins as there are ten
shilling coins. The rest are one shilling coins. Find the number of ten shillings coins that Mary has.
9. A positive two digit number is such that the product of the digits is 20.When the digits are reversed, the
number so formed is greater than the original number by 9.Find the number.

15. A solid metallic ground peg consists of a conical part whose perpendicular height is 6cm and a cylindrical part
of height 15cm. The conical part and the cylindrical parts have a common radius of 2cm. This is as shown in
the figure below.

33. Nanjala invested Ksh560,000 in Pesa Bank for 5 years and earned a compound interest of Ksh189,406. Omedo
invested some money in a different bank at the same rate p.a for 3 1 years and earned a compound interest

invested, to the nearest sh.10.
34. In the figure below, EB and DB are arcs with centres at A and C respectively. AB = BC = 5.4cm and

35. A flag post 12 m long is fixed on top of tower. From a point on horizontal ground, the angles of

36. A school planned to buy x calculators for a total cost of Ksh 16,200.The supplier agreed to offer a

37. Motorbike A travels at 10 km/h faster than motorbike B whose speed is x km/h. Motorbike A takes
11/2 hours less than the motorbike B to cover a 180 km journey.
a) Write an expression in terms of x for the time taken to cover the 180 km journey by: i)

b) Use the expressions (a) above to determine the speed, in km/h, of motorbike A.
c) For a journey of 48 km, motorbike B starts 10 minutes ahead of motorbike A.
Calculate in minutes, the difference in the time of their arrival at the destination.

38. The figure below shows a speed-time graph of a journey by car. The car starts from rest and
accelerates at 2 3 m / s for t seconds until its speed is 22m/s.

It then travels at this speed for 40 seconds since starting at which point it brakes, bringing it
uniformly to rest. The total journey is 847m long and takes T seconds.
Calculate
a) The value of t.
b) The distance traveled during the first t seconds.
c) The value of T.
d) The final deceleration.

c) In January 2021, He received a 5% increase in his monthly salary and reduced his expenditure

44. The coordinates of points P and T are (1,-2) and (3,6) respectively. A point Q divides line PT in the
ratio 3: -1.
