a. It provides food to all organism.
b. It serves as a recreational place.
c. It gives temporary refuge from busy life in the city.
d. It serves as habitat to many organisms.
e. It supplies wood for cooking.
2. Give three causes of forest destruction? Explain each based on your own understanding.
a. Slash-and-burn agriculture or commonly known as kaingin is responsible for 25 percent
forest denudation because of people who are rampantly practicing this farming method.
b. Logging or cutting of trees illegally for commercial purpose especially export contributes
heavily to forest destruction. This logging industry intensified by our export-oriented
economic policy.
c. Fuel wood gathering is increasing due to increasing population and poverty thus result
higher demand for firewood that contributes to forest denudation.
3. Give at least five consequences of forest destruction.
a. Floods and soil erosion
b. Damage to private and public properties
c. Damage to crops, livestock, and fish pond
d. Greenhouse effect
e. Marine life destruction
