What’s New

I have this activity for you.

Task: Look for five hidden system requirements of Windows 10 OS. Write your answers on a
separate sheet of paper.

6
What is It

Microsoft Windows 10 is the latest operating system introduced by Microsoft to the market
which supports new application software. It contains many features that help users like
geography, accounting, and others. In using the OS to a generic desktop computer, you must
consider the hardware specification requirement before installing it or else the installation will
fail. The OS requirement is written on the cover of the installation disc or seen in the manual.
For a new laptop, they are automatically designed for the said OS. Let us see the system
requirements below.

Microsoft Windows 10
Component Specification
CPU 1 GHz or faster
Memory 1 GB of RAM or higher
Hard drive 16 GB available hard disk drive
Graphics DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
Network Internet Access

Exceeding the recommended hardware requirements will improve the performance of the
computer. In installing OS, you can use a bootable Windows installation DVD or flash drive.
Technicians always do clean installation of OS which removes all the content of the hard drive.
It is also known as a fresh installation. However, you can upgrade the existing OS by choosing
the Upgrade during the installation process. Now that you know already the hardware
requirements and the type of installation, are you ready to install the Windows operating
system?

7
Fantastic, let us begin.

Windows 10 Installation
Below are the procedures in installing Windows 10 operating system.

1. Set the boot order of the PC.

If you are using a DVD bootable disc, set the first boot to DVD; if you are using bootable
USB, set the first boot to USB.

2. Connect the bootable DVD or USB flash drive

Connect the bootable USB drive with Windows 10 to the USB port or insert Windows 10
installation disc in the DVD ROM. Restart the PC.

3. Press any key to boot from CD/DVD or USB

After the power-on self-test (POST) is initiated, it will recognize the first boot and will load
the content. You see the message “Press any key to boot CD/DVD or Press any key to
boot USB”, do so to go to windows installation setup. It looks like the illustration below.

What if you missed to press any key? It will reboot or it will load the existing operating
system.

time and currency format, and
keyboard settings. Change the
default setting to your preference
then click Next to proceed.

The monitor prompts you to enter
the product key before you
continue the installation process.
Get the product key labeled on the
disc case of the OS.

In some operating systems, it
contains only one edition of OS;
however, some are containing
different editions for you to choose
from like in the illustration.

Select Windows 10 Home then

click the Next button to continue.

8. License terms
Read the license terms of the
operating system then tic the

drive, select the drive 0 then click
“New”. Enter the capacity of the
drive you prefer then click “Format”.

computers are used for personal
purposes, select “Set up for
personal use” then click the Next
