WORK
1. PURPOSE:
The purpose of this method statement is to describe the methodology to ensure
required quality formwork for execution and control the process of shuttering
material and erection of the same so as to attain concrete to the required
dimensions and shapes, till it attains enough strength to become self-supporting
2. SCOPE:
This procedure is applicable for all shuttering work carried out for RCC structural work
for BOM10 project site as specified in Contract document or Project Specification.
3. REFERENCES:
Scheme Drawing, Standards & Formwork Guidelines
4. MATERIALS:
Meva Eco Fix hand set formwork 15 mm birch plywood with 220 g/m2 phenolic
coating, shuttering props., other formwork accessories.
5. TOOLS & EQUIPMENT’S:
Chisel Hammer, Crow Bar, Manual or Machine Saw, Spanner, Plumb Bob, Level Thread,
Sprite Level, Measuring Tape and Associate Tools & Accessories.
Temporary Facilities such as Platforms, Walkways, Shoring and strutting material, Night
lamps etc.
6. PROCEDURE:
1) Sequence and mode of construction shall be pre decided to make optimum use of
available formwork.
2) The approval to the general scheme of centering shall be obtained in good time
to facilitate all preparatory work.
3) Materials and components pertaining formwork shall be available and in good
condition.
4) The form work shall be so constructed that up and down vertical adjustment can be
made smoothly.
5) Formwork joints shall be sufficiently tight to prevent loss of fine materials from
concrete and it may be packed with appropriate filler material.

WORK
6) All new and used form timber shall be maintained in a good condition with respect
to shape, rigidity, tightness, smoothness and cleanliness of surfaces.
7) Shuttering shall be braced, strutted, propped and so supported that it shall not
deform underweight and pressure of the concrete and human movement.
8) Dimensions of formwork components are to be mentioned
9) The shuttering for beams and slabs shall be so erected that the shuttering on the
sides of beams and under the soffit of slabs can be removed without disturbing the
beam bottoms.
10) Forms required to be used more than once shall be maintained in serviceable
conditions and shall be thoroughly cleaned and repaired before reuse.
11) Where forms for continuous surfaces are placed in successive units, the forms shall
lap and fit tightly over the completed surface so as to prevent leakages.
12) Before placing concrete, the surface of all forms shall be covered with suitable non
staining form releasing agents so as to prevent sticking of concrete and to facilitate
removal of forms.
13) Immediately before concrete is placed care shall be taken to see that all forms are
in proper alignment and the supports and fixtures are properly secured and tightened.
14) Removal of forms shall never be started until the concrete is thoroughly set and
hardened adequately to carry its own weight, besides the live load which is likely to
come on the work during construction.
15) Approved form release agent should be used.
16) Due to various reasons such as closure of form, joints, shrinkage of timber, dead
load, deflections, elastic shortening of form members and formwork deflections or
settlement may occur.
17) Adequate camber, if specified on drawing, shall be given to the erected formwork.
18) Pre and post concrete surveying is to be done for all structural elements and survey
report is to be submitted to CtrlS signed by both vendor and CtrlS representatives
19) Allowable tolerances in verticality, alignment, levels & sizes should be as per
standard specification
20)For Construction Joint use wooden battens & Foam and the same should not be de-
shuttered until the completion of the slab.

section of columns and beams
Deviation from dimensions of footings
Dimensions in plan - 12 mm + 50 mm
Eccentricity 0.02 times the width of the footing in the
direction of deviation but not more than 50

Straightness or bow (in plan) for walls +/- 6 mm in 3 m or +/- 12 mm in 12 m
Formwork Finishing:
1) Immediately after the removal of forms, all exposed bars or bolts passing through the
Reinforced Cement Concrete member and used for shuttering or any other purpose
shall be cut inside the Reinforced Cement Concrete member to a depth of at least 25
mm below the surface of the concrete and the resulting holes be closed by cement
mortar.
2) All fins caused by form joints shall be broken, all cavities produced by the removal of
depressions, broken edges or corners shall be thoroughly cleaned, saturated with
water, and carefully pointed and rendered true with mortar of cement and fine
aggregate mixed in the proportions used in the grade of concrete that is being finished
and of as dry a consistency as is possible to use. Necessary water curing is to be done
for at least 3 days or application of curing compound is to be done on rendered
location.
