Recent advances in wireless
communication and
microelectronics have
enabled the development oI
low-cost sensor devices
leading to interest in large-
scale sensor networks Ior
military applications. Sensor
networks consist oI large
numbers oI networked
sensors that can be
dynamically deployed and
used Ior tactical situational
awareness. One critical
challenge is how to
dynamically integrate these
sensor networks with
inIormation Iusion processes
to support real-time sensing,
exploitation and decision-
making in a rich tactical
environment. In this paper,
we describe our work on an
extensible prototype to
address the challenge.

WSN has been evolved
as a tool to bridge the
gap between physical
world oI
sensors/actuators and
the virtual world oI
inIormation and
services. In some typical
scenarios oI many
potential Iieldspsila e.g.

agricultural, medical etc
to name a Iew, WSN has
been emerged as a
promising technology.
Sensing the environment
and sending the sensed
inIormation to a remote
place via sink are two
primary jobs oI a sensor
network. These jobs are
required to be done with
greater reliability
because some major
decisions depend on the
inIormation received
Irom WSN. The issue oI
