1.3 Structure of the System

The dSPACE Simulator Mid-Size consists of one PX box with the real time hardware,
two Sorensen power supplies (routed to VBAT1 and VBAT2 of the simulator) and two
load & FIU drawers. The PX box contains one DS2202 HIL I/O board, one DS2211
HIL I/O board, one DS4330 LIN Interface Board and one DS4302 CAN Interface
Board connected to the load & FIU drawers (ref. Figure 1-1).
The first (bottom) load & FIU drawer is additionally prepared for a DS662 Signal Con-
ditioning (SC) Board which carries a DS207 current sink / source module.
The second (top) load & FIU drawer is additionally equipped with a DS662 Signal
Conditioning (SC) Board which carries a DS223 Linear Lambda Probe Simulation
module. The DS662 is mounted on the first spare slot of the Simulator Mid-Size.

The DS4302 is equipped with four CAN channels. The CAN lines are wired from the
DS4302 CAN board to four Sub-D connectors at the front of the simulator.
The wiring of the CAN channels can be found in the following table.

3 DS4330 LIN-Interface-Board
The Simulator is equipped with a DS4330 LIN-Interface-Board. Sixteen LIN-channels
are available on the DS4330.
Fore more information about the DS4330 please refers to your dSPACE documenta-
tion (%DSPACE_ROOT%\Doc\Print\DS4330Features.pdf).
For the simulator, 12 LIN channels are routed to the spare pins of HYP3 of the first
(bottom) load & FIU drawer. The other 4 channels are not available on the HYPT3
connector because of the number of free pins is limited.
The following table shows the mapping of the LIN channels.

4 DS662 Sideplane
The DS662 board is installed in the Mid-Size spare slots. It provides one slot for an
additional signal conditioning (SC) module.

4.1 DS207 Current Sink Source

The fist (bottom) load & FIU drawer is prepared for a DS662 sideplane with a DS207
Current Sink Source Module. The DS207 Module is used to simulate up to eight cur-
rent interface equipped sensors. Each channel needs one analog control voltage.
Each DS207 channel has a current sink and a current source.
These connections are routed through to the HYP3 connector (refer to the following
table)

4.2 DS223 Lambda Probe

The second (top) load & FIU drawer is equipped with a DS662 sideplane with a
DS223 Lambda Probe Simulation Module. The DS223 Module is used to simulate up
to four lambda probes. Each channel needs two analog control voltages.
Two DAC channels control one DS223 channel (one for Ri control, one for Ip con-
trol). The mapping of the DAC channels is shown in the following table.

DS2211 DS223
Function Function Jumper configuration
DAC1 Ip_Ctrl1 closed (used)
DAC2 Ri_Ctrl1 closed (used)
DAC3 Ip_Ctrl2 closed (used)
DAC4 Ri_Ctrl2 closed (used)
DAC5 Ip_Ctrl3 open (not used)
DAC6 Ri_Ctrl3 open (not used)
DAC7 Ip_Ctrl4 open (not used)
DAC8 Ri_Ctrl4 open (not used)

Table 4-2: DS223 control channels

Please note: only the first two Lambda channels are connected to the DS2211 (DAC
1-4). If the other two Lambda channels are necessary, please close the jumper 4-8
on the DS662 and connect the DS2211 DAC 5-8 reference to SCGND (on the simula-
tor backside). Then the DAC 5-8 can not be used for the ECU anymore.

Each DS223 channel has 4 connections to the ECU:

Vm: virtual GND from ECU
Unernst: Nernst voltage from SC module
Iadj: adjustment current from ECU
Ipump: pump current from ECU
These connections are routed through to the HYP6 connector (refer to the following
table)
