For today lab we placed graphite and copper rods in a beaker each in a solution of cus04 connecting

each side with anode and cathode connected to a circuit of 6 battery to see the effect of electrolysis
Electrolysis is a process where an electric current is used to drive a non-spontaneous chemical
reaction, typically involving the decomposition of an electrolyte into its constituent ions at electrodes.
It's commonly used in industrial processes like metal plating and in the production of chemicals such as
chlorine and hydrogen. As you could see the copper from the cuso4 stick to the cathode because the cu
is positive and cathode is negative so it attracted and with the copper rod you could see the cu
sticking(forming) on the cu rod(cathode) with also effervesce occurring in the reaction and for the
graphite rods the (anode/cathode) turned pink with the other rod forming bubbles all around the rod

limitation

the battery that was bought for this experiment was new but maybe was expired which didn’t give
enough voltage and current to sustain the electrolysis process effectively

source of error

the clamp that hold the cupper and graphite didn’t hold the rod tightly but left it kinda loose which
could have affected the results and a delay in time since it didn’t make the flow of current be strong
