Stand/Position: We agree in reviving GMRC

ARGUMENTS
Argument # 1 Reviving GMRC helps in the development of character and ethics among
students.

1st piece of Evidence According to a study conducted by the University of Illinois, incorporating
moral education in schools has a positive impact on students' behavior
and decision-making (Gibbs, 2017)

2nd piece of Evidence By teaching students about values such as honesty, respect, and
empathy, we are helping them become responsible and compassionate
individuals.

Argument # 2 Reviving GMRC promotes a positive school culture and climate.

1st piece of Evidence Research conducted by the University of California, Berkeley, found that
schools with a strong emphasis on moral education have lower rates of
bullying and violence (Berkowitz, 2015).

2nd piece of Evidence By teaching students how to treat others with kindness and respect, we
are creating a more inclusive and harmonious learning environment.

Argument # 3 Reviving GMRC and Values Education in the school curriculum can help
address the rise of moral relativism and ethical dilemmas in society

1st piece of Evidence In a world where moral values are constantly being challenged and
questioned, it is important for students to have a strong foundation in
ethical principles.

2nd piece of Evidence According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, 74% of
adults believe that teaching values in schools is essential for the moral
development of children (Pew Research Center, 2019).

Counterargument Overload subject and activities in school

Evidence for Some may argue that reviving GMRC would overburden the students

accommodate additional disciplines.

Evidence to refute the Reviving GMRC does not necessarily mean overloading students. It can
counterargument be integrated into existing subjects or taught through interactive and
engaging activities. By making GMRC a part of the curriculum, schools
can ensure that students receive a well-rounded education that includes
character development and values education
