RE: Mr. Eduardo Garza;
Dear Ms. Cano!
Iam legal counsel for Mr. Eduardo Garza, and recently he was asked to provide
‘comments on a few issues, however, he was not provided with any of the allegations that were
published in an article by Julia Ainsley, Didi Martinez, and Laura Stickler of NBC News. ‘The
Feport was dishonest and misleading, and porrays Mr. Garza in a manner that is inconsistent
‘with the facts, his character, and his reputation,
[would like to address several falsehoods, misstatements and inaccuracies that have
recently been reported by NBC News in two articles about Border Patrol’s Chief Jason Owen,
Sector Chief Chaver, and my client, Mr. Eduardo Garza, Fitst, Mr. Garza was asked by NBC to
comment on just a few items, but vas not provided with any of the background story that later
appeared in the news reports. Mr. Garza was not asked to verify any source material, or
substance ofthe article, which turned out to be inaccurate and misleading tothe public.
Mr. Garea is a well-respected and successful businessman in the United States and
Mexico. Me. Garza has always been involved in countless local philanthropic causes in our
community, such as, scholarships (LULAC, Laredo Collage, TAMIU, ete), sports, local
fundaisers, catholic charities, among many, many others.
Mr. Garza has more than thirty-five years inthe local trade and transportation industry
and has developed a reputation for helping the community and giving back in any way that he
can to promote Laredo and its citizens, Mr. Garza has always been willing to donate his ranch,
as well as his home to local, county, state, national and even international politicians,
businessmen and women and charitable organizations. Mr. Garza has allowed his ranch in La
Salle County, Texas, to be used by many organizations, not only Border Patrol. For instance,
Law Enforcement, Special Olympics, United States College of Bishops, and many other non
profit organizations. Mr. Garza has always donated his ranch and home for the hosting of
various public and community evens, as well as private and business events.Letter 19 KGNS News,

Mr. Garza first became acquainted with Border Patol officials Hector Garza and Sergio
Moreno at “Laredo Day” in Washington D.C. on March 9, 2023. This is an event hosted by the
City of Laredo in Washington D.C. that allows Laredo's local stakeholders to promote the area
and meet with a variety of federal officials to discuss topies important to Laredo and the
surrounding area. Mr. Hector Garza and Mr. Moreno approached Mr. Garza to introduce
‘themselves and enjoyed dinner, drinks, and conversation. That led to several introductions from
‘other Border Pattol officals, including Mr. Joel Martinez, and eventually on a trip to Laredo
‘Chief Owens, Sector Chief Gloria Chavez were introduced to Mr. Garza
With regards tothe recent NBC articles about a dinner attended by Chief Owens, Sector
‘Chief Gloria Chavez, and Mr, Garza in Guadalajara, Mexico. Mr. Garza would like to stess that
hae did not pay for or provide transportation oF accommodation to either Chief Owens, Sector
Chief Gloria Chavez, or any other members of Border patrol, nor did they use his private plane
for such at any time. Mr. Garza has a corporate office in Guadalajara, and regularly travels to
this and other offices throughout the United States and Mexico. Mr. Garza only had brief
interaction with Chief Owens, Sector Chief Gloria Chavez while they were in Guadalajara. Mtr
Garza understood that Chief Owens, Sector Chief Gloria Chavez were on vacation with other
family and friends in Mexico at their own expense. This included a tour of several tequila
dislleries, which isa typical destination to visi in Jalisco,
All events that have heen hosted by Me. Garza did not only include members of Border
Patrol, but other members of local and county government, stakeholders, as well as family and
fiends. As host, Mr. Garza provided food for all those individuals invited to his home or ranch.
‘The only’ noa-chartable event held at Mr. Garza’s ranch was a Border Patol training session in
October 2023. Members of the Border Patrol requested the use of Mr. Garza’s ranch for the
presentation. However, Mr. Garza did not speak or even attend the event, but did provide a meal
forall participants. Mr. Garza did not pay for or sponsor any entertainment (comedian) as was
falsely reported by NBC. Finally and more importantly, Mr. Garza does not curently have, nor
bas he ever had any busines interactions, in any way with Border Patrol.
Mr. Garza has a great deal of respect for all enforcement agencies and is grateful for the
service that they perform to the community and is proud to have been acquainted with the Border
Patrol officials
Respectfully,
