It glows YELLOW to indicate Block Section free from vehicles and LINE
CLEAR not granted / received at train receiving / train sending station
respectively.
a) Block Section clear after arrival of train at other station, but associated
signals and their controls not normal at either or both stations i.e.
SNK off or Shunt key indication ‘RED’.
b) LINE CLEAR cancelled before entry of train in block section.
It is a Circular LED.
It glows RED when MUX goes into a failure mode otherwise extinguished.
SM’s Block Panel for Single Line is provided with following KEYs for various
functions :
(i) SM key :
To open or lock the back cover by authorised signal staff, for maintenance
or repairs, provided SM’s back cover lock key is also applied properly.
SM’s Block Panel is provided with following Push Buttons (non-locking type)
and counter:
(a) The Key of this transmitter is normally `IN' and used as tangible authority
given to Driver of a train to perform shunting upto opposing First Stop
Signal (FSS).
(b) Released when SHUNT RELEASE KEY of Block Panel is turned to `IN'.
15. INSTALLATION
All the BPAC units including the modules, connectors and other accessories are
factory-checked. However, after unpacking, following pre-installation test schedule
is being recommended to examine if any kind of damage has occurred during
transportation.
Physical Examination:
Required for:
a) Connectors
b) Relays and Relay-bases
c) All the PCB modules / cards
d) UFSBI Alarm Panel
e) Block Panel
f) Block Telephone
g) Rack and the sub-rack
h) Card Guides
i) Motherboard (Backplane)
j) Interconnecting cables and wires
If any major damages is found it should be brought to the notice of site supervisor for
subsequent necessary action.
Battery: Good quality 24V 80AH battery with low internal resistance should be used
for BPAC. BPAC battery should not be shared with any other gear or any other
adjacent BPAC.
Battery Charger:
i) Good quality low ripple battery charger (Axle counter type) 24V/10A as
per IRS: S-86/2000 or IPS module (24V/5A) as per RDSO/SPN/165/2004
for each BPAC. Float mode terminal voltage should nominally set at 26V.
Terminal voltage should never be outside 21.6V to 28.8V.
ii) Power supply for BPAC should be separate from Axle Counter and Block
telephone power supply.
Earthing: Good earthing should be provided for BPAC termination. BPAC should be
grounded through proper earth only. Arbitrary earthing must be avoided. It is
preferable to provide separate earth pit for BPAC. Value of Earth resistance: < 2 Ω.
Lightning arrestor: Good lightning protection system with proper connection with
earth.
Communication Channel: One 4-wire voice channel from the OFC mux / quad cable
should be provided for BPAC communication. Block telephone should be connected
with a separate 2-wire channel. The BPAC channel should be having S/N ratio of
better than 20db. Attenuation 0-3dB (at 1 KHz ).
Cable: For connecting UFSBI of BPAC to the optical mux, 0.9mm / 600 ohms
telephone cable should be used. A single segment of cable without in between joints
should be used for this connection. 56/0.3mm copper wire for power input (Length is
as per distance between battery charger or IPS room to BPAC cubicle.)
Environment: Adequately spacious, clean, dry and well ventilated location should be
used for BPAC. Enough room around the BPAC should be provided for easy access
for maintenance.
Power Supply
a) Battery Voltage should not exceed the range: 21.6 to 28.8V DC.
b) Ensure that the above supply is not arbitrarily grounded.
c) Before insertion of other modules, Power Supply units (PSU) are to be inserted and
power connection to the Battery Supply is to be provided. The ‘Start’ switch on
the front panel of the PSU should be lifted once to bring them into operation. The
correct output levels should be read from the front panel monitoring points as:
+ 5V Int = 5.6V – 6V
BP = 4.9V – 5.3V
The ‘OK’ LED for +5V & +12V should glow, indicating proper health of PSU.
Installation of BPAC is kept very simple as and such no elaborate procedure will be
required except those given as under:
Inter Connections :
b) Insert all the modules / cards in the UFSBI 6U Rack (as shown in Fig.1.0) in
power off condition.
c) Plug in all the connectors to their matched counterpart. As the length or wire
groups corresponding to each connector are optimally fixed, probability of wrong
connection is ruled out. Refer interconnection drawings for checking of proper
connections.
d) Put on the UFSBI PSUs.
Start-up
When initially power is applied to the system, 1). The count no. of veeder counter will
increase by one as soon as the system passes through Power on Reset, 2). The system
goes through some initial self checking showing ‘SYSTEM CHECK’. If any of the
checks fails system goes to shutdown. Now the system comes to a point where it looks
for control voltage of the output card showing ‘CNTL. VOLT ABSENT’. When
‘CNTL. VOLT’ switch is pressed momentarily, desired voltage gets available, and
otherwise system goes to shutdown. Now the system will transit to SSB state,
assuming failure of inter block communication and will display the message “IB RX
FAIL”. When the system at the other end is also powered ON, the local end system
will transit to the NORMAL state after successful reception of at least three interblock
communication packets and will display the message “SYSTEM OK”.
Normal operation
Once the system has successfully completed initialisation, it is now ready for
interfacing various signalling information of a BPAC at one end of a block section and
exchanging them with the BPAC terminal at the other end
A “Test Signalling Round” involving at least 10 operations needs to be performed
before the real operations or the trail run starts. The block operation through BPAC to
be kept under observation at least for three up and three down movements of trains.
A close monitoring of the train movements through BPAC to be done at least for 48
Hrs after immediate installation and commissioning of the system.
Preventive maintenance
Power supply: In tropical countries power unit of any type is the single source
responsible for most of the equipment faults and malfunctioning. A regular check on
external power supply units such as battery banks, battery charger is mandatory.
Relays: BPAC has used most reliable type of relays, but special care and
testing is required for those to be used after long storage. No attempt should be made
to repair a relay. Use a new one.
a. Telecom cable should be protected from damage during other kinds of installation
at its vicinity.
c. The loss of signal due to lossy cable should be kept under check.
d. The transmit and receive path are to be checked if there is ‘IBC RX FAIL’ on both
sides.
Maintenance of Equipment
BPAC unit will automatically trip-off if the Battery supply goes beyond the normal
operating range. In case of repeated trip-off, both the DC supply level and the loading
are to be checked. A healthy BPAC should not normally draw more than 3 Amp for
normal operation.
If a faulty BPAC system is not brought back to normal after “resetting” one must
check:
As long as no failure occurs in the system, the display remains “SYSTEM OK”. But if
any failure occurs then the buzzer will start beeping and the summarised alarm will
come in the display in the form “MAJOR: X MINOR: Y”, where X & Y are integers.
The operator / maintainer will then have to press the ACKN switch to see the alarm
status. As soon as the ACKN switch is pressed, the buzzer will stop beeping and the
relevant faulty message information will be displayed. Accordingly the maintainer will
carry out the rectification job (e.g. replacement of card, checking of wiring) at the site
and after the rectification is complete he should reset the system and record “the cause
for resetting the system” in the log-book. If the rectification job is not possible by the
maintainer at the site then he will have to inform the manufacturer.
Once a fault is found, the user should not attempt repairing at component level. The
impaired module / PCB needs to be replaced by a spare one.
The Block Panel work in Absolute Block system incorporating Block Proving by Axle
Counter to control the movement of trains on single line block section from one block
station to another in a fixed direction. These working instructions are in conjunction
with General Rules (GR) of 1976 and its amendment in 2002. These working
instructions do not supersede any rule laid down in GR.
Principle of working
18. Method of Signaling Trains from Block Station to Block Station for Single
Line
a) SM of the station intending to send a train from his station has to obtain verbal
consent from station at other end before taking LINE CLEAR on its Block
Panel.
b) Before a request for IS LINE CLEAR is sent to station at other end, SM shall
ensure the following on its Block Panel:
i) LINE CLOSED indication YELLOW &
ii) LINE FREE indication GREEN &
iii) SNK indication YELLOW &
iv) SNOEK indication YELLOW &

When a block section is blocked by the presence of a train in the section or train
parting or shunting or opening of level crossing in mid section or for any other reason,
the SHUNT key of EKT shall be taken out and kept in safe custody.
If the block station at other end refuses the IS LINE CLEAR enquiry signal, no train
shall be allowed to leave until a fresh IS LINE CLEAR enquiry signal has been given
to block station at other end and accepted.
On removal of obstruction, the Shunt Key of EKT shall be inserted and turned to IN
position and the Shunt Release Key should be taken OUT.SM shall immediately
inform SM of other end about the fact, so as to enable him to send a fresh IS LINE
CLEAR signal.
After a train has been pushed back at the sending station, the sending station advises
the receiving station. The receiving station can close the section by pressing BELL and
CANCEL button after getting cooperation from the other end station.
The SM, who intends to Block Back the line, shall inform the SM of station at other
end on telephone for permission to Block Back, who will acknowledge the message
and grant permission supported by a private number. SM takes SHUNT key of EKT
OUT and keeps in safe custody. The SM will then issue necessary authority to driver
of train to perform shunting in Block Section.
All the entries in Train Signal Register (TSR) for this operation should be make in
RED ink. The reasons for Block Back shall be recorded in remarks column against
each entry.

Where shunt signals are not provided for shunting on line leading towards Block
section, the driver of shunting train shall be given shunting order at the foot of
STARTER SIGNAL / STOP BOARD / FOULING MARK before allowing any
shunting.
While shunting, the LAST STOP SIGNAL should be kept at ON.
SHUNT KEY of EKT shall be taken OUT and kept in safe custody. The driver of
shunting train shall be given shunting order to shunt up to LSS. On completion of
shunting, the line between STARTER / Shunt Signal / Stop Board / Fouling mark and
LSS should be checked free from any vehicle. SHUNT KEY of EKT shall be inserted
and turned to IN position.
When an IS LINE CLEAR enquiry is received from Block Station at other end of
block section, permission for shunting up to LSS shall be granted only after
compliance of GR 8.09 & 8.10 and as permitted by Station Working Rules (SWR).
Shunting behind a train should be performed with message to station at other end. SM
shall take out SHUNT KEY of EKT after entry of train beyond LSS and hand over to
Driver of shunting train along with shunting order.
On completion of shunting, Driver of shunting train hands over SHUNT KEY of EKT
to SM. SM ensures clearance of line between STARTER / Shunt Signal / Stop Board /
Fouling mark and LSS from any vehicle. The message regarding completion of
shunting shall be sent to station at other end.
In case train arrives at station at other end before completion of shunting, TRAIN
GOING TO / TRAIN COMING FROM arrowhead indication will remain at RED, till
shunting train clears the section. During such period line shall be BLOCKED BACK
as per procedure laid down previously.
Shunting in face of an approaching train, beyond LSS and up to FSS can be performed
only, when approaching train has been brought to a stop at FSS of the station.
Whenever such shunting is to be performed, SM key shall be taken OUT and kept in
safe custody. The driver of shunting train shall be given shunting order to shunt up to
FSS. On completion of shunting, the line between STARTER / SHUNT SIGNAL /
STOP BOARD / FOULING MARK AND FSS SIGNAL should be checked free from
any vehicle and only then SM key shall be inserted and turned to IN position.
Block panel should be considered to be defective and should not be restored for
normal working until tested by competent signal staff & certified fit by them for use
after the under-mentioned cases except for the case of Communication Link Failure
(steady yellow indication). After the Communication Link Failure indication becomes
flickering again block panel operation can be restored.
12. When LSS cannot be kept at ‘ON’ In addition to action taken for case 1-
during its suspension / disconnection. 11, all efforts should be made to keep
or; the LSS at ON position. If it is not
possible, then a competent railway
servant should be deputed with RED
hand signal at the foot of the LSS to
warn the drivers of approaching trains.
13. When LSS of the station does not go In addition, all trains in the relevant
back to ‘ON’ position on the entry of direction should be stopped at Home
a train into the Block Section signal and after ensuring that they have
come to a stop, the Home signal
should be cleared to caution aspect
only.
To dispatch a train, STARTER signal
should not be taken OFF until issue of
relevant authority to pass LSS &
Caution order should also be issued to
the driver about the defect of LSS.
14. Total failure of communication In addition to action taken for case 1-
during which train shall be worked as 13, the trains should be dealt with
per extent rules in force on the under the extent rules as laid down in
Railway GR 14.13 & SR there under

27. Method of “Line Clear Cancellation” (Before entry of train in the Block
Section).
After a train sending station has taken line clear, the receiving station can carry out
line clear cancellation with the consent of other end station. Sending station puts back
LSS to “ON”, if already taken “OFF” and its control to normal ensures SNK at
“YELLOW”. Sending station extends co-operation by pressing CANCEL CO-
OPERATION button.
On receipt of co-operation indication, receiving station presses bell and cancel button
with SM KEY “IN”. Receiving station observes cancel indication to light up flashing
yellow and releases the buttons. TRAIN GOING TO / TRAIN COMING FROM
Arrow Head Indication turns to flashing green at sending / receiving station
respectively. After 120 seconds LINE CLOSED indication lights up “YELLOW”.

FIG. 2.0
The power supply unit operates from isolated 24V supply. The input power is fed
through a surge protector and filter section to protect the system from high voltage
spikes and lightning strikes coming along the power line. The first stage is a Gas
Arrestor which can absorb high energy pulses. This is followed by LC filter which
then faces a transient protector to bring down the spikes within acceptable limit. The
primary supply is connected to earth through high voltage capacitors to bypass AC
noises but ensuring DC isolation.
Each PSU has two separate switching power supply modules, one for +5V and the
other for +12V. The two power supplies are kept fully DC isolated from earth. They
are also mutually isolated with each other. +5V is used to operate all the digital and
analog devices of the system. The isolated 12V is used to sense external change over
contacts through optoisolators. It is also used feed power to the safety relay driver
circuit (switched power oscillator circuit) for operating external Q series relays.
Optically isolated feedback is used for voltage stabilisation maintaining the ground
isolation.
Elaborate alarm monitoring circuit is used to raise alarms if it goes beyond certain
limits. For undervoltage, the unit raises an alarm which is also sent to the three
processors for monitoring. If the output exceeds the safe upper limit, the output power
is isolated from the backplane with a relay to avoid any damage to the system. Since
two power supplies are in hot standby mode, withdrawal of one PSU due to any failure
does not inhibit operation of the system. The capacities of the PSUs are overrated
adequately so that each of the PSUs individually can support the whole system.

The processor supports a memory space of 64K bytes out of which 8K bytes of RAM
space is allocated for storage of data and 48K bytes of ROM space for resident
software. The rest of the address space has been utilised for accessing various internal
I/O devices and addressing the external interfacing I/O modules through the universal
bus.
The processor has a built-in flexible serial I/O sub-unit which backed up powerful
interrupt facilities. Apart from this there are four external serial I/O devices for internal
and external communication. Out of these five serial I/O units, two are used for inter-
processor communication at a speed of 19200 baud. Another two are used for inter-
block communication at 1200 / 2400 baud. One of these two serial I/Os is used for
transmission and reception of safety data from the remote end. The other serial I/O
device is used to receive feedback of the transmitted data from the external interface
point. Communication of interblock data is carried out through a built-in modem device
which modulates the serial data with a carrier within the voice band (300 Hz to 3400
Hz) for the external multiplexer equipment.
The universal I/O bus is driven by software to access one of the three hardware sets of
the I/O personality modules interfacing the block instrument. Each access to the I/O
modules is preceded by a bus check cycle to ensure the integrity of data.
The processor has a built-in watchdog which is triggered every 5ms period. As long as
software works in normal function, this 5ms triggering continues, but if software
corrupts, processor goes into latched reset state. The system module also has an
external watchdog which is triggered by the processor every 50ms. The external
watchdog signal from the three processors are combined in the communication driver
unit through a voting logic circuit which in turn enables or disables all the output
signals to ensure one level of safety. The system unit also has hardwired station
address for both local and remote equipment which is used for the validation of the
interblock data packet.

FIG. 2.4
The Communication Driver Unit accommodates various hardware common for all the
three processors. It has four functional blocks: the Communication Signal Buffers, 12V
power switch for driving the switched power oscillators of the Q series safety relays,
2/3 logic circuitry for external watchdog and global reset hardware.
By virtue of the inter-processor communication all the three processors are having the
same validated data at any point of time. Thus each of the processors is equally
capable of handling the inter-block data transmission. Inter-block communication is
carried out through modem for voice channel interface. The tone modulated digital data
stream is received from the individual system card. Depending on the health of the
transmission hardware one of the trans driver is selected. Data received from the other
end is always fed to three separate interface devices for the three processors.
The communication driver module also has the driver hardware for operating the power
shutdown relay and watchdog relay which feeds power to all the switched power
oscillators for driving the Q series safety relays. It also has a global reset hardware
logic which will initiate reset of all the three processors and will trigger a pulse for the
external veeder counter to register the event.
The external watchdog signals generated by the three system cards are fed to a voting
logic circuitry to generate a valid watchdog signal which is used to activate all the
output drivers of the Block Interface Equipment

FIG. 2.6
The Relay Input Interface module accepts 8 external potential-free changeover contacts
from the block instrument. All the contacts are sensed through optoisolators by feeding
a current from an isolated 12V supply derived from the input power supply. The
module has three sets of optoisolator along with three separate bus drivers to sense the
external input so that if one set of hardware fails, the other two sets can still continue
without disrupting the operation ensuring the requisite degree of safety. The type of
the personality card is identified by a hardwired code to ensure the configuration of the
system.
All the inputs are protected with transient suppressors (optional) to protect the system
from external hazards. Status of each input is displayed on the front panel through
LEDs. These LEDs are driven with the optoisolator outputs which have no relation
with the processors.

FIG. 2.8
The Relay Output Module is a complementary pair of the Relay Input Interface module.
It reproduces a contact output corresponding to the contact input sensed by the input
module at the other end of the block instrument.
The output module drives 8 Q-series safety relays. The On-Off statuses of the relays
are received from the three processors through three separate I/O buses and buffers.
The three sets of data are then fed to a voting logic comparator circuit whose output is
then used to drive optoisolators, which in turn initiate solid state switched power
oscillator circuits. The oscillator pulses are transformer coupled to the secondary
which is then rectified and filtered to produce a DC voltage to drive the Q-series relays.
The oscillator circuits are short-circuit protected to avoid any accidental short-circuit of
the leads at the output.
The output module receives feedback of the output status from various stages to ensure
the integrity of data. At the first level it receives feedback from individual latches. At
the second level it receives feedback from the two limbs of the oscillator stage which
actuates the driving pulses. At the third level it receives the feedback of the DC voltage
produced at the secondary of the switched power oscillator for driving the Q-series
relay. This is sensed by optoisolator since the voltage is fully isolated from the system.
At the fourth level feedback is sensed from a changeover contact of the Q-series safety
relay. For this an Input Interface module is used as a companion card of the Relay
Output module with the card identity strapped as external feedback module. This
feedback can also be taken from such external changeover contacts of a block
instrument relay which gets activated in response to a particular output relay of the
system.
Identity of the Relay Output Module is again read through a hardwired buffer to ensure
the integrity of the configuration of the system.

This card is same as the Relay Input Interface Module except the hardwired identity code for the
feedback module. It is used to read the feedback of the external relays connected to the Relay
Output Module.
Configuration wise the Relay Input Interface Module, the Relay Output Module and the Relay
Feedback Module are all companion cards to configure a basic 8 Input / Output System. The
cards are plugged in the universal slots in a particular sequence as, C/O Input Interface Module
followed by Output Feedback Module and then the Relay Output Module in three consecutive

The functionality of the Alarm Extender Module is achieved by intercepting the final analog
outputs of UFSBI, which is fed to communication system in parallel, for decoding for decoding
of alarms through a modem, UART & microprocessor circuitry. The alarm bytes from the packet
is analysed & corroborated with the information from the PSUs fed as input to the alarm
extender module. Depending on the various alarm conditions, corresponding relays, whose NO
& NC contacts are made available through a tag block for extension to SM’s panel & data-
logger, are picked up. This module is mounted separately on the same 19” rack & provides front
panel visual display additionally. The working of UFSBI with 30 dB cable loss, if required can
be ensured by strappable selection of an amplifier circuit in the module. Moreover, the power
required for its functioning is derived from its own built-in power supply, without disturbing the
existing UFSBI power supply arrangement.
The Alarm Extender Module has the facility to check both the local and remote loopback. It also
comprises a RS232-c port which is provided for directly connecting to low speed data channel on
OFC / Microwave Radio.
The Alarm Extender is based on high performance 80C196KC microcontroller from Intel. The
module has three functional sections for its operation-

The PSU Card has the following PSU input alarm LEDs:
BATT
This is a green LED. This LED glows as long as the input Battery supply is present.
IP SHUT
This is a red LED. If the input Battery voltage goes beyond the tolerable range, then this LED
glows. Under this condition the PSU card will not generate any output voltages.
IP OV
This is amber LED. If the input Battery voltage goes above the stipulated level but is below the
highest tolerable limit then this LED glows.
IP UV
This is amber LED. If the input Battery voltage falls below stipulated range then this LED
glows.
The PSU card has the following LEDs for +5 volt output (measured at the INT & BP test
points):
OK
This is a green LED. When the +5 volt output is within tolerable range, this LED glows.
SHUT
This is a red LED. If the +5 volt output goes above the tolerable limit then this LED glows.
Under this condition the PSU Card will not give +5volt output.
UV
This is amber LED. If the +5 volt output falls below the tolerable limit then this LED glows.
The PSU Card has the following LEDs for +12 volt output (measured at the INT & BP test
points):
OK
This is a green LED. When the +12 volt output is within tolerable range, this LED glows.
SHUT
This is a red LED. If the +12 volt output goes above the tolerable limit then this LED glows.
Under this condition the PSU card will not give +12 volt output.
UV
This is amber LED. If the +12 volt output falls below the tolerable limit then this LED glows.
SYS ACTV
This is a green LED. As long as the system works in 3/3 or 2/3 mode, this LED glows. But if
the whole system goes to SD state then this LED becomes off.
TXA
This is a green LED. When this LED glows, it indicates that the inter block transmission takes
place through System Module A at the local end.
TXB
This is a green LED. When this LED glows, it indicates that the inter block transmission takes
place through System Module B at the local end.
TXC
This is a green LED. When this LED glows, it indicates that the inter block transmission takes
place through System Module C at the local end.
CNTL VOLT
These constitute of two amber LEDs. Normally any of two LEDs glows. Under normal working
condition +12 volt is supplied from the PSU card through SD1 / SD2 relay (Front contact) to the
Output module to drive the output relays. When upper LED glows SD1 relay is activated and
when lower LED glows SD2 relay is activated. But when the system goes to SD state, the power
used for driving the output relays is removed i.e., SD1 / SD2 relay drops and both the LEDs
become off.
SYSTEM MODULE:
ALM
This is a red LED. Under normal operating condition this LED is off. If there is any alarm in the
UBX 2000 system, then this LED glows.
RMT
This is an amber LED. Under normal operating condition this LED is off. If there is any alarm at
the remote end UBX 2000, then this LED glows.
2/3
This is an amber LED. Under normal operating condition this LED is off. If the system works in
2 out of 3 modes, then this LED glows.
SD
This is a red LED. Under normal operating condition this LED is off. If a Processor goes to shut
down state due to any failure, then this LED glows. However, if such failure is common to all the
3 Processors or common to at least 2 Processors then all the 3 Processors go to shut down state,
irrespective of the input condition. In SD state all the outputs are driven to deactivate state. The
power used for driving the outputs is also removed. The system remains locked to this state and
after the rectification job has been carried out the system comes out of the SD state only by
resetting the system.
SSB
This is a red LED. Under normal operating condition this LED is off. If the system fails to
receive valid packets from the remote end, then the system enters into the Safe Standby state and
this LED in all the System cards glows. In the SSB state all the outputs are driven to deactivate
state irrespective of the input conditions. However, as soon as the system starts receiving valid
packets continuously from the remote end, it will come out of the SSB state automatically and
this LED in each of the system card will become off.
RSSB
This is an amber LED. This LED glows if the local end system does not have any failure but the
remote end system has gone to SSB state i.e., if inter block receive fail occurs at the remote end.
LNK OK
This is a green LED. Normally this LED glows as long as the Tx-Rx path is OK between the
local end UBX 2000 and the remote end UBX 2000. If any problem occurs in the
communication link then this LED will become off.
SYS OK
This is a green LED. Normally this LED glows as long as there is no alarm in the system.
However, if any alarm occurs in the system then this LED will become off.
PROC ACTV
This is a green LED. This LED reflects the health of the System card and its associated hardware
in other cards. Under normal working condition this LED glows. However, if any problem
occurs in the System card or in its associated hardware then this led will become off.
The Input Module can accept 8 C/O inputs through 8 independent channels. There are two LEDs
corresponding to each channel.
When the input channel senses the back contact of the input relay, corresponding green LED
glows.
When the input channel senses the front contact of the input relay, corresponding amber LED
glows.
FEEDBACK MODULE:
The Feedback Module reads back the status of the 8 output relays from the spare front & back
contacts of the respective output relays through 8 independent channels. There are two LEDs
corresponding to each channel.
When the Feedback Card senses the back contact of an output relay, it’s corresponding green
LED glows.
When the Feedback Module senses the front contact of an output relay, it’s corresponding
amber LED glows.
The Output Module has 8 LEDs corresponding to 8 output relays. When any output relay
activates, the corresponding amber LED glows.
The Output Card has also 3 red LEDs:
DAG-A
When System A is in disagreement regarding the status of the output relays, this LED glows.
Normally this LED is off.
DAG-B
When System B is in disagreement regarding the status of the output relays, this LED glows.
Normally this LED is off.
DAG-C
When System C is in disagreement regarding the status of the output relays, this LED glows.

the communication link between the local end and remote end of UFSBI the will glow.
SYS-FAIL (SD)
This is a red LED. Under normal operating condition, this LED is OFF. When this LED glows,
it indicates that the UFSBI has gone into SD State.
PSU-FAIL (SD)
This is a red LED. Under normal operating condition, this LED is OFF. . When this LED glows,
it indicates that both the power supply units go into shutdown condition resulting in SD mode of
the UFSBI.
UFSBI-OK

alarm appears in UFSBI due to any reason, internal or external, this LED becomes red.
III) ANNEXURE
The top eight resistors are set for remote address & lower eight resistors are set for local address.
Any resistor position left open corresponds to binary 1 & connected with resistor (0Ω) or
shorting jumper corresponds to binary 0.
The difference between the local address and remote address should be 5.
The information of the wrongly addressed pair (difference between local & remote ≠ 5) is
promptly rejected by the system showing an alarm as “ADDR SET UP ERROR”. During the
POST these two addresses are shown on the display panel. The Address Configuration resistors
(0Ω) or shorting jumpers are soldered in the rear side of the BACKPLANE.
The address settings for local and remote address are to be identical for the three processor units
i.e. for SYSTEM-A, SYSTEM-B and SYSTEM-C.
