Foreword
If you wish to pursue undergraduate law programmes from the law colleges
of Andhra Pradesh state, you need to appear for AP Law Common Entrance
Test (AP LAWCET).

AP LAWCET is the state level law entrance exam conducted by Andhra Pradesh
State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) for admissions to the UG law
programmes including three-year and five-year integrated LL.B.

AP LAWCET - An Introduction

A
ndhra Pradesh Law Common Entrance Test (AP LAWCET) is con-
ducted by Sri Krishnadevaraya University on behalf of Andhra
Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE), every year for
admissions to three-year and five year–integrated law programmes in Univer-
sities and their affiliated colleges of the Andhra Pradesh state.

Sri Krishnadevaraya University issues notification for LLB admissions in the


month of February as the applications start from the same month.

The state level law entrance exam is a paper-pen test which consists of mul-
tiple-choice questions divided into three parts and is of 10+2 standard for five
year – integrated LLB and degree level for the three –year LLB programmes.

Admissions are offered to a total of 8886 seats (3020 for B.A LLB and B.Com
LLB and 5866 for three-year LLB). The admissions to UG law programmes are
offered on basis of merit scores and ranks secured by candidates in AP Law
Common Entrance Test.

AP LAWCET Eligibility
Academic Qualification
3-year LL.B Academic Eligibility
You need to have a Bachelor’ Degree in any discipline from any recognized
University or must have qualified any other equivalent examination as recog-
nized by the concerned Universities, securing atleast 45% in aggregate of all
subjects if belonging to General Category.

5-year–integrated LLB
You need to have passed Intermediate Examination of Andhra Pradesh State
Boards or other State Education Board of 10+2 pattern, securing 45% of the
total marks.

SC/ST Category Candidates


Those who belong to the reserved categories are offered a relaxation of 5% in
the qualifying marks, i.e., 40% of the total marks in aggregate of the subjects.

Age Bar
As per the regulations of Bar Council of India (BCI), there is no upper age
limit for admissions to law programmes; therefore you can apply for AP LAW-
CET irrespective of the age criteria.

Other conditions for AP LAWCET


Those who are appearing in the qualifying exam (both 10+2 and degree level)
are also considered eligible, provided they fulfill requirement of minimum
marks for the qualifying exam.

Also, if you have secured less than 45% of qualifying marks in the Graduate
degree examination but hold any additional Graduation or Post Graduation
degree with 45% minimum qualifying marks then it can be taken into consid-
eration.

AP LAWCET Application
Process

S
ri Krishnadevaraya University shall be inviting online applications for
the state level law entrance exam in the last week of February. You
need to register and apply for appearing in law entrance exam.

Once you have registered online after remitting application fee, you will
obtain a Login Id and Password for filling the applications.

How can I fill Application Form?


While applying for the undergraduate law entrance exam of APSCHE, you
need to follow the step-by step procedure as mentioned below –

zzChoose application fee remittance option from AP Online and Debit/Cred-

zzFill in the required details including academic details, address, email id
and mobile number
zzOnce you have filled the application form of AP LAWCET including upload-

ing of photograph and signature, you need to confirm all details furnished
by you and also you can edit/modify any of the information (if required)
zzYou need to preview the application form after reading declaration and
terms and conditions
zzYou need to submit the application form by clicking on ‘Save and Submit’
button
zzYou can also view and print the submitted application form by providing
login credentials

Remittance of Application Fees


You need to remit an application fee of Rs. 450 in online mode using AP On-
line Centers or Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking facilities.

Application Form Submission


AP LAWCET Application Forms need not be sent to the official address and
must be submitted online only after furnishing all the details in the applica-
tion form. You are advised to keep a copy of the submitted AP LAWCET ap-
plication form for future correspondences.

AP LAWCET Exam Pattern


Exam Mode – Offline/ Paper-Pen based Test

Exam Duration – 1 hour 30 min (90 Minutes)

Number of Questions – 120 objective-type questions

Total Marks – 120

Marking Scheme – Each question shall carry four options. For every correct
answer, one mark will be awarded. Moreover, there will be no marks deducted
for any incorrect response. You need to response a question with only one op-
tion; else it shall be regarded as wrongly attempted.

Subjects – The 120 objective type questions of the state level law entrance
exam of APSCHE will cover three sections – General Knowledge and Mental
Ability, Current Affairs, and Aptitude for Study of Law.

AP LAWCET Syllabus
General Knowledge and Mental Ability – The questions in this section will
be based on general awareness and brainstorming. Most of the ques-
tions will be of generic standard. Also it may include questions based on Eng-
lish Grammar and Comprehensions to test basic knowledge of reading and
writing skills of the candidate required for the LL.B programmes.

Current Affairs – This section will include questions from the latest happen-
ings of national and international level. This section will test the universal
developments awareness in candidates.

Aptitude for Study of Law – The section will be based on elementary knowl-
edge of basic principles of Law and Constitution of India only. In order to test
your interest towards the LL.B programmes, it shall have questions on some
of the commonly used legal terms.

AP LAWCET Timeline

A
PSCHE issues notification for the law entrance exam in the fourth
week of February as the application begins from the last week of
February.

Sri Krishnadevaraya University shall be issuing admit cards in the third


week of May in online mode which can be downloaded by entering Applica-
tion Number and Date of Birth, as the offline exam shall be conducted in the
last week of May.

The AP LAWCET Results shall be announced in the second week of June.


The counselling for UG law admissions in Andhra Pradesh State law colleges
will be held between first week of September and second week of October.

AP LAWCET Admission
Counselling

A
PSCHE will be organizing AP LAWCET Counselling between the first
week of September and second week of October of the admission
year in online mode.

The Web Counselling includes various processes including registration,


document verification and web option entry, provisional seat allotment fol-
lowed by reporting at the allotted college and payment of admission and tui-
tion fee.

Instructions for AP LAWCET Web Counselling


zzAP LAWCET Counselling will be held in online mode only
zzAPSCHE may organize as many as three rounds of counselling for LLB Ad-

missions
zzSri Krishnadevaraya University will be organizing verification of original
documents at designated centres
zzAPSCHE shall be announcing a counselling schedule and you need to reg-

ister in time with requisite fee at the designated centres


zzThe provisional allotments shall be made in order of preference of web
entry options only
zzOnce the seat has been allotted, after verification of documents, eligibility

and other modalities, you will need to remit the admission fee for AP LAW-
CET within the stipulated time; else your allotted seat will be transferred
to the next candidate in second phase allotment
zzAfter final phase allotment, spot counselling shall be organized to fill up
the still vacant seats (if any) at the concerned colleges only

verification of documents and registration for web counselling.
