We are 5 wonders (tất cả cùng nói)

Welcome to the program ‘Exploring Hanoi’s hidden cafes' (Yên) produced and
broadcast by 5wonders. Today we will explore (Chiến) two unique cafes hidden
in the heart of Hanoi(Trường), the capital of our beautiful country
Vietnam(Minh). Not gonna waste your time(An), let’s start! (Tất cả cùng nói)

(A little introduction about Hanoi coffee)

Trường
- With the legacy of nearly a century old, Hanoi coffee culture has turned street
spaces into an interesting and colorful symphony of all kinds of coffee shops. It
can be said that drinking coffee in the morning has become an indispensable
habit in the lifestyle of many Hanoi people.

(Dẫn vào)
Chiến
- Nowadays, Hanoians see cafes as places not only for enjoying drinks but also
for studying, working, winding down, meeting up with friends and so on.
- Hidden cafes - cafes located in old apartment buildings, sometimes only
known through word of mouth and even without any signs - have become ideal
spots for those who want to enjoy a cup of coffee and get away from the hustle
and bustle of Hanoi.

(litaliti)
An
- The first hidden cafe that we went to is known as “Litaliti”, which is located in
a local market in Trung Yên Alley, Hàng Bạc Street, Hoàn Kiếm district. Not
only is this market far away from the main road but you would never expect to
find a cafe inside a market.
- “Litaliti” means “tiny” in Vietnamese. As the name suggests, this cafe has a
very small area. It has two floors, the 1st floor is for the staff to prepare drinks
and the 2nd floor is for customers, accessible by a narrow ladder. The exterior
of the cafe is painted green, giving it a refreshing and vintage feeling.
- Up on the 2nd floor, the light is dimly lit, mostly taking advantage of the
natural sunlight, soft sofas are used instead of wooden chairs, combined with
the lo-fi music playing in the background, making the space cozy and relaxing.
It surprised us that they were able to cleverly make use of the space inside
because it didn’t feel tight at all. And apart from the five of us, there was also a
customer coming here to study and a group of friends chatting.
Yên
- We all ordered “Cà phê Chanh” (Lime Coffee), one of the most famous drinks
of Litaliti.

- Lime Coffee is a one-of-a-kind combination that may not be for everyone, but
for those who are looking for interesting new flavors of coffee, we all think it is
very worth trying.

(The Little Plan Cafe)

Minh
- The second hidden cafe we explored is called “The Little Plan”, or “Kế hoạch
nhỏ” in Vietnamese. It is located deep inside Alley 11 on Phủ Doãn Street, just
about 1 kilometer away from Litaliti. The cafe is hidden on the second floor of a
50-year-old apartment building opposite the on-demand treatment department of
Việt Đức Hospital.
- It took some time to navigate in the alley but thanks to the signs, we finally
found our way to the cafe. Going up the long ladder, we reached the 2nd floor
which has a smaller area and resembles an attic. The cafe also has space for
customers outside on the balcony to enjoy drinks while observing the life of
Hanoi people. The cafe's decor revolves around the classic coffee-brown color,
giving it a vintage and old-school vibe.

Trường
- The menu of the cafe was quite diverse, ranging from espresso, filter coffee to
tea and mocktails, so we each chose a different drink.

- The Little Plan is definitely a nice place for studying, working or meeting up
with friends. The atmosphere here is nostalgic and reminiscent of that in houses
of Hanoi people from a long time ago. And the drinks were also very lovely.
This coffee shop is absolutely worth a visit.

(Outro)
Yên
- The habit of drinking coffee of Hanoi people shows their appreciation for life
and peace of mind. Living and working in the midst of a bustling Hanoi city,
they allow themselves moments of relaxation and serenity in the form of a cafe.
- If you have the opportunity to come to Hanoi, please make sure to save a place
in your schedule for a visit to a hidden coffee shop, where the hidden but
wonderful cultural beauty of Hanoi city and its people really shines.
