Can You Grow Your Food in a Jar

In many countries, people eat a lot of beans and seeds. Here is an example. Do you eat any
of those in your country?
The Chinese make bean sprouts from the mung bean. This is how you can grow your food
in a jar.

Materials:
1. 75 grams of the beans / seeds
2. Water

Tools:
1. Bowl
2. Large jar
3. Thin piece of cloth
4. Elastic band
5. Cup

Steps:
1. Choose a bean or seed-for example, the mung or adzuki bean or the sunflower seed
2. Put 75 grams of the beans of the seeds in a bowl
3. Cover them in water for 12 hours
4. Pour out all the water
5. Put the beans or seeds into a large jar. This must be clean
6. Put a thin piece of cloth over the top of the jar. Hold the cloth in place with an elastic band.
7. Put the jar on its side in a warm, dark place. You must not put the jar in sunlight.
8. Pour a cup of cold water carefully through the cloth into the beans and seeds twice a day in
the morning and at night
9. Make sure that you pour all the extra water out
10. When the beans look like those in picture no 10. they are ready to eat.

The purpose of the text is to give instruction to the reader how to grow food in a jar,
especially bean and seed

4. Piece of cloth = Kain tipis
5. Adzuki bean = Kacang adzuki (kacang merah)

C. What is your thought about the text?


This text is helpful for us when we want to try to plant beans or seeds in a simple place,
and in a simple way. From the text, the author gives us instructions on how to grow food in a
jar. At first the texts for me were incomplete because they didn't give descriptions for the
materials and tools so I was a bit confused, and I had to read the steps first before I could
figure out what materials and tools I needed.

How To Make Aloe Vera Juice

This detailed post will help you to make your own aloe vera juice at home with simple and
basic ingredients. Making juice at home is more hygienic & economical so we never drink
any kind of juice either in eateries, cafes or juice bars. This aloe vera juice is one such
beverage we drink at times when on a health spree.This is a recipe to make a fresh aloe vera
juice.

Materials:
1. Aloe vera gel
2. plained water or orange juice or with coconut water

Tools:
1. Spoon
2. Scissor or knife
3. Bowl
4. Absorbent cloth

Prepare Aloe Vera Leaf


1. Wash Aloe Vera leaf under running water to remove mud and dirt.
2. Dry it with an absorbent cloth and let the rind dry completely
3. Take a kitchen scissor and cut down both the sides to remove the thorny parts.
4. With a sharp knife, filet the leaf to two. Gently scrape the gel into a bowl. The inner
gel must look clear free from any yellow or green parts as these are highly toxic
5. Filet the gel with a knife or take a spoon and extract the gel. Make sure you don’t
scrape the rind at the bottom. You aloe vera gel has to be crystal clear & white in
color without any green or yellowish rind.

How To Make Aloe Vera Juice


1. Prepare aloe vera gel that has already been prepared
2. Combine plain water or with dates or with orange juice or with coconut water or
barley water with just lemon juice
3. Taste and add sweetener as needed

In my opinion, the text is too long, and doesn’t really highlight the purpose of the text. But
this text really helps us when we want to make our own aloe vera juice from home with
simple ingredients.

TEXT 3:

How To Make Ice Lemon Tea

When the weather is hot, most people usually drink cold water to refresh the throat. One of
the delicious drinks for hot weather is Ice lemon tea. Ice lemon tea has a great taste, with a
nice tea aroma, sour from lemon, cold from ice, and sweet from sugar. Here's a recipe for
making iced lemon tea to accompany you on a hot day

Ingredients:
• 1 bag of Teabag
• 2 pieces of Lemon Orange
• 2 tsp of sugar
• 6 Ice Cubes
• 50 ml of hot water
• 150 ml of cold water
Steps:
1. Brewed Tea bag in 50 ml of hot water.
2. Add sugar, and then stir until evenly distributed.
3. Squeeze the lemon. Then, pour lemon juice into the tea.
4. Add ice cubes and add 150 ml of cold water.
5. Stir until the lemon juice mixes with the tea.
6. Add lemon slices as decoration.
7. Ice Lemon Tea is ready to be served.

For me, the text is simple but we can easily understand the purpose and steps, the instructions
given in the text are clear, and the instructions are easy to follow. And this text really helps us
when we want to make ice lemon tea.
