Haircut
A social story written to help
students understand getting a
haircut—11 pages, colorful
visuals to help students
understand!
Directions:
Have you ever had a student
who does not like to get their
haircut? This social story is sure
to help you help them. It can
apply to a boy or girl. Print off
the story and read through with
the student several times. If
possible, print one off and give
to parents so they can read
through with their child as well.
*Please note- there are two
pages of the story per page.
Getting A Haircut
I have lots of hair on my head.
Sometimes it gets too long. Pg. 1
This means it is time to get a
haircut.
Pg. 2
When I get a haircut I will go to a
hair salon or barber shop.
Pg. 3
While I am getting my hair cut I
will sit in a special chair. This is
OK! Pg. 4
This special chair helps the barber or
hair dresser cut my hair. Pg. 5
When I get my hair cut, the barber
or hair dresser will use scissors to
cut my hair. This is OK! Pg. 6
When I get my haircut, the barber
might use an electric razor. It will make
a funny noise. This is OK! Pg. 7
When I get my haircut, it is OK to sit in
the chair ! It is OK to get my hair
cut ! It is OK for the barber to
use the razor . Pg. 8
When I get my hair cut, I will follow the
hair salon and barber shop rules.

Getting a haircut is fun ! The hair
dresser or barber will help me!!

Getting a Haircut Rules:
1. I will sit nicely in the special chair.
2. I will let the barber or hair dresser cut my hair.
3. I will let the barber or hair dresser use the electric
razor if needed.
4. I will follow directions and make good choices!
