The Teaching Profession

Becoming an educator, especially in recent years has been considered one of the most
demanding yet rewarding professions in the work force today. Teaching, with its benefits and
intellectual motives has risen to become one of the most sought after jobs in society. But even
after taking such rewards into consideration, one might want to analyse how time consuming
and emotionally draining teaching young people may turn out to be. Along with its rewards and
demands, teaching is not only a potentially prestigious profession but also a very unique and
sometimes life long career opportunity. Exploring teaching has become a popular tactic in
recent years for people to make a better decision on whether or not teaching
Teaching
Teaching is the process of attending to people's needs, experiences and feelings, and making
specific interventions to help them learn particular things. We are looking at teaching as a
specific process – part of what we do as educators, animators and pedagogues.
Learning
Learning is the process of acquiring new or modifying existing knowledge, behaviors, skills, values,
or preferences. Evidence that learning has occurred may be seen in changes in behavior from
simple to complex, from moving a finger to skill in synthesizing information or a change in attitude

Basic Principle of Teaching


They defined what good education means at the undergraduate level. The seven principles are
based upon research on good teaching and learning in the college setting.
These principles have been intended as a guideline for faculty members, students, and
administrators to follow to improve teaching and learning.
Difference between Teaching & Learning
Differentiating learning and teaching is very easy. In direct definition, teaching is giving lessons
about a particular subject to a group of learners. While learning is gaining knowledge by
studying, being taught and experiencing. ... Students can learn without teachers,
but teachers can't teach without learners.
