Carrie Hamilton
Actress Carrie Hamilton (1963 - 2002) gained recognition as an actress, singer, screenplay writer, director and playwright, starring in the television show Fame, Broadways Rent, and the major motion picture Tokyo Pop. Entertainment experts predicted that she was on her way to becoming one of the next big names on screen & television. She collaborated with her legendary mother Carol Burnett on the stage play Hollywood Arms, which premiered shortly after Carries untimely passing in 2002.

Legendary Emmy-Award winning actress and comedienne Carol Burnett was Guest of Honor at the 2010 Green Planet Movie Awards at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles on March 23, 2010 for the establishment of the Anaheim University Carrie Hamilton Entertainment Institute. The Institute is named after Ms. Burnetts daughter, actress, entertainer and lmmaker Carrie Hamilton. Anaheim University endeavors to launch online acting and entertainment related classes through the institute that was

established in the memory and spirit of Carrie Hamilton. During the awards, co-hosted by AU, Carol Burnett signed a citation with Anaheim University VP for Academic Aairs Dr. David Nunan establishing the institute. This was followed by a Q&A Session regarding her daughter Carrie Hamilton and the Carrie Hamilton Entertainment Institute.

Anaheim University Celebrates Akira Kurosawas 100-Year Anniversary with Top Filmmakers
SPIELBERG, LUCAS, SCORSESE, STONE & GERE PRAISE KUROSAWA FOR ANAHEIM UNIVERSITY TRIBUTE

Akira Kurosawa I have learned more #om him than almost any lmmaker on the face of this Earth said Steven Spielberg during a special video tribute to the late acclaimed Japanese lmmaker Akira Kurosawa on what would have been his 100th birthday. The tribute, which also featured Martin Scorsese, George Lucas, Oliver Stone and Richard Gere, was organized by the Anaheim University Akira Kurosawa School of Film and held during the Green Planet Movie Awards in Los Angeles at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel on March 23, 2010.

lmmakers of the 20th century who introduced Japanese cinema to the west, Kurosawa was presented with an Oscar for Lifetime Achievement by Lucas and Spielberg in 1989. Following a free afternoon screening of the classic Seven Samurai, the evening video tribute featured Anaheim Universitys never-seen-before footage of Akira Kurosawa directing Ran on location, while Hollywoods top lmmakers shared their respect for Kurosawa.

Richard Gere, who starred in Kurosawas Rhapsody in August, called Akira one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. Oliver Stone expressed his sentiments with, I wish Mr. Kurosawa could be here to feel the love and appreciation for his work. I wish he were. AU Hosts Green Planet Movie Awards


CELEBRATING PEOPLE, PLANET & MOTION PICTURES The 2010 Green Planet Movie Awards, co-hosted Hamilton Entertainment by Anaheim University and the Academia Institute, Anaheim Universitys Foundation, featured surprise performances by 100th Anniversary Memorial Hollywoods and Asias leading entertainers. BRAZ-TESOL (Brazil TESOL) is Brazils largest association of teachers of English to speakers of other languages. Every two years, BRAZ-TESOL holds a national convention attended by Plenary Panel Discussion related to Advancing ELT in the Global Context. Anaheim University Faculty Dr. Nunan, Dr. Ellis and Dr. Bailey also served as Plenary Speakers during KOTESOL 2009. This Panel Discussion will be part of the required annual 4-day residential session for Anaheim Universitys Master of Arts in TESOL students which will be held from Thursday, October 14 to Sunday, October 17. Non-Anaheim University students can attend the Panel Discussion by registering for PAC/KOTESOL 2010, or by enrolling in Anaheim Universitys 9-week Curriculum Development or Research Methods in Language Learning course which combines 9 weeks of online study with the 4-day residential session in Seoul.

Colombian Ministry of Education Selects Anaheim University to Train 100 Public School English Teachers
In June 2010 the Ministry of Education in Colombia selected Anaheim University, together with Anaheims partner Colombian institution, the Universidad de La Sabana, to train 100 state-school teachers appointed and subsidized by the Colombian Ministry of Education in AUs Graduate Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Diploma. These teachers will pursue Anaheims six-course Graduate Diploma in TESOL and continue towards a Masters degree in English Language Teaching at the Universidad de La Sabana in Colombia. Anaheim University was selected because of its world-renowned faculty and online nature, allowing the Ministry of Education to greatly reduce its costs to train 100 teachers spread throughout the country while still providing face-to-face classroom opportunities. Anaheim Universitys renowned faculty will teach the program through a combination of online learning and three four-day residential sessions held on the campus of Universidad de La Sabana, in Chia, just outside Bogota, Colombia.

Anaheim University Partners with Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Korea
Anaheim University has partnered with Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (CUFS) in Seoul, South Korea. CUFS is a division of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, one of the top universities in Korea for foreign languages. Through the agreement, Anaheim University will provide the course work content and manage an English language discussion forum for 8 undergraduate courses that will lead to a joint Anaheim University CUFS TESOL Certicate and a joint Anaheim University - CUFS Teaching English to Young Learners Certicate. CUFS will teach and assess the courses and confer the nal certicates.

Over the past year, Anaheim University has experienced tremendous growth. So much so, that at one point our servers were put to the test and were quickly becoming overloaded. California State University Fullerton Enters TESOL Alliance with AU


AU AND CSUF CO-HOST TESOL RESIDENTIAL SESSION This will be the second time that AU and CSUF have cooperated. In November 2008, AU held its 4-day residential session on the campus of Alliant International Universitys Irvine learning center with a joint open session held on the CSUF campus. Administrators of the two institutions are discussing expanding the alliance to include an outsourcing relationship, whereby CSUF students would enroll in AUs online Discourse Analysis for Language Teachers course and use the credit towards their CSUF degree. If this relationship works out well, then the alliance would expand to include more courses from the AU Online MA in TESOL degree program.

World Renowned Linguist & Founder of Anaheim University David Nunan Institute for Language Education Establishes Travel Award
David Nunan, the worlds leading textbook author with textbook sales exceeding 1 billion texts, has established a travel award to help linguistic graduates worldwide get started in their careers. Dr. David C. Nunan, who is Anaheim Universitys Vice-President of Academic Aairs, founding Dean of the Graduate School of Education, and the linguist whose name is axed to Anaheim Universitys David Nunan Institute for Language Education, created the travel award in 2009. This was created to help support travel and expenses for doctoral students and recent doctoral graduates to present at international conferences. The inaugural recipient of the award was Dr. Citing Li, Assistant Professor at Shanghai Foreign Studies University, who used the award to present a paper at the 2010 American Association for Applied Linguistics Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Each year two awards will be given, each to a maximum value of US $800.00. Applicants must be in a university doctoral program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) / Applied Linguistics or a related eld, or be early career researchers, who have graduated within the last three years. Applicants must have had a refereed paper accepted for a 2011 international conference presentation. Cal State Fullerton

Anaheim University and California State University Fullerton, the largest of the 23 CSU campuses, have established an alliance to host Anaheim Universitys April 2011 residential session. The CSU system is composed of 23 campuses, prepares about 60 percent of the teachers in the State of California, and is the largest senior system of higher education in the United States. The 4-day residential session, taught by AUs renowned TESOL faculty, will be held from April 9 12, 2011 on the campus of CSUF. In addition to the joint residential session, there will be a TESOL seminar made open to the public.

Bailey has been elected as Chair of the Board of Trustees and President of TIRF (The International Research Foundation for English Language Education). Dr. David Nunan, Dean of the Anaheim University Graduate School of Education, has been elected as a member of the Foundations Executive Committee.
