Some hints and tips before you begin!
1) Size of Substrate The recommended size of substrate is A4. The recommended thickness of your substrate is between 100gsm and 300gsm. If you are using paper smaller than A4, apply a downward pressure to The Craft Room Lid and the top of the cutter to prevent your paper from moving. The cutter will not cut a substrate smaller than the cutter disc (210mm x 210mm). If you are using paper larger than A4 you will nd your paper prevents you from closing one or more of the side clamps. Simply apply downward pressure on The Craft Room Lid with your other hand to prevent your substrate from moving. The cutter will cut circles with diameters ranging from 20mm to 140mm (indicated on the printed measure). 2) Downward pressure when cutting. If you are operating The Circle Cutter for the rst time you may nd some practice is required to ensure you apply the correct downward pressure. 3) Depth of blade. You can adjust the depth of your blade to suit the thickness and type of the paper substrate you are using. If you are cutting thick card (about 300gsm) you may need to increase the depth of cut by exposing more blade. To lower the blade, turn the Top clockwise a quarter turn. When using thicker card you may nd that rotating The Circle Cutter a second time will ensure that your circle is completely detached. 4) Positioning your circle To acquire the centre of your card draw two faint lines from corner to corner. The centre point is where the lines cross.

5) 5) Making the most of your substrate In order to save paper you can offset your substrate so you can cut holes in the corners as well as the centre. This can also be done on an A4 size substrate. Just apply some downward pressure on The Craft Room Lid to help hold your substrate in position while cutting.

6) IMPORTANT INFORMATION Due to the necessary penetration of the blade into the cutting mat while operating The Circle Cutter it is inevitable that some marking to your cutting mat will occur. Craft with Helix suggests that 1) you may like to use a separate cutting mat to your everyday cutting mat when operating your Circle Cutter or 2) simply use the underside of your A4 cutting matt when using the circle cutter. TOP TIP! The more times you use The Circle Cutter the more you will become familiar with it and you will nd you will develop your own techniques.

A Guide to cutting your circle

Step 2.

Before you start! Choose the size of paper substrate and put this to one side for later.
Step 1. Insert a Helix A4 Cutting Mat (C60400)* into The Craft Room (C60010)*.

Step 2. First decide the diameter of the circle you wish to cut. Lift the lid of The Craft Room slightly so the blade and mat are not in contact. When moving the Blade Assembly ensure that the blade is NOT in contact with the mat otherwise the blade might break. Use the printed scale to position the blade to the desired circle radius. To do this, unlock the Locking Nut and slide the blade to the correct measurement by lining up the radius indicator with the printed scale. Then tighten the Locking Nut.

Step 3.

Step 3. For best results line up the arrow on the Disc with the arrow on the Base. This helps determine the start and nish position of the cut circle.

Step 4. Before inserting your substrate into The Craft Room, mark with a cross where the centre of your circle will be. Lift The Craft Room Lid and place your substrate on top of the cutting mat. Use the printed guidelines to line up the cross with the centre of the Rotating Disc.

Step 5. Step 5. Lock down The Craft Room lid using the side clamps where possible.

Step 6. Slowly rotate the handle one complete revolution whilst maintaining a slight downward pressure.

Step 6.

Remember! The blade will only cut in one direction and you must always rotate the cutter in the direction to which it has been assembled
Step 7. Once you have completed your cut, unlock the side clamps, and lift The Craft Room lid.
