Parish Announcements
Ballroom Dancing Show featuring Katya Kushniruk, 2007 Canadian Champion, on Saturday,
June 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Tickets are $15 and all proceeds will go towards the
Renovation Fund. Come and bring your friends.
Camp St. Sophie: This year's camp will be open from July 8 until July 22. Registration of
campers will take place on July 8 between 1:00 and 2:30 p.m. The cost is $325 per child, per
week, the second or more children from the same family is $300 per week. Take advantage of
the Early Bird Registration Fees of $300 per child and $275 for each additional child. Total
payment must be received by July 1, 2007 to take advantage of these early bird prices. For more

For those individuals going by private cars, please note that the bridge leading off the island is
closed due to construction. Written directions will be available at the entrance to the cathedral or

Appeal for Funds to Help with
Renovations to our Church
On June 3, 2007 at the Extra-Ordinary
Meeting, a motion was passed to start work on
the re-caulking of all windows. Work has
begun on June 13, 2007.
This year, St. Sophie Cathedral is facing major
expenses because of the need to address
repairs to the building caused by extensive
water infiltration. These repairs are urgent if we
are to prevent irreparable damage to the
building as a whole and to precious icons
adorning our sanctuary.
The repairs are to take place in three stages:
1. Re-caulking of all the windows
2. Repairing the damage around the windows
caused by moisture, together with replastering.
3. Repainting the inside of the Church
Quotations for the cost of re-caulking alone,
are in the range of $100,000.
We have already started a campaign to raise
funds from our parishioners to cover the first
phase of the work. As of the end of May, we
have raised $23,600.
We turn to you, for a donation to ensure that
this urgent and necessary work can begin as
soon as possible. In addition to paying by
cheque, parishioners can now pay by credit
