Lighting plan
By Lumen Method

Applicable to design of a uniform (general) lighting in square or rectangular rooms

where a high proportion of light on the working plane is reflected

Complete Determine Number of Fixtures

 N = Number of Light required.

 E = Required Lux Level
 A = Room area (Length x Width; Meter)
 F = Lumen output of Each Light
 UF = Utilization factor (Clean room-0.7)
 MF = Maintenance factor (Clean room-0.7)

A room has length 6m, width 4m and height 3m. 300 Lux is Required.

By Lumen Method

Utilization Factor: Lumens received on the working plane/Lumens

emitted by the lamp

Effecting Factor:
• Type of light
• light fitting
• Surface Color
• Mounting height of lamps
• Area to be illuminated

Its value lies between 0.4 and 0.6 for direct fittings it varies from 0.1 to 0.35
for indirect fitting
