You will write a paragraph about your junior high school for foreign exchange students. A paragraph includes three main parts: introduction (1+ sentences), body (3+ sentences) and conclusion (1+ sentences).

Part 1. Three Sentences (body sentences)

1. Northeld Junior High School is located in Toledo, Ohio.

2. More than 1,000 students attend the school. 3. At Northeld, students can play many sports and participate in many clubs.

Please write three sentences about your junior high school.

Part 2. Make Your Three Sentences Better

You make a better paragraph by adding details (information) to your sentence. Look for sentences that include phrases like many clubs or many sports or very small and add more information. See the two examples below:
1b. Mayfair Junior High School is located in Toledo, Ohio, near Bennett Park in the north part of the city. 2b. More than 1,000 students attend the school, which makes it the largest junior high school in Toledo. 3b. At Mayfair, students can play a variety of sports from football to lacrosse. Students can also participate in clubs, such as tea ceremony, art, band, science and cooking, among others.

Look at your sentences. Please add small details (as in the examples above) to
them.

Part 3. Add an Example

A good paragraph often includes an example. An example tells a small story. Take a look at sentence #3 again, we can add example after it:
3. Students can also participate in many clubs... . EX: For example, our school has a well known musical club. Every year this club performs a Broadway show. The performances are very popular in our city. Students from other schools come to see our show because it is very good.

Chads Final Paragraph: Hi, I am Chad. Id like to introduce you to my junior high school. Northeld Junior High School is located in Toledo, Ohio, near Bennett Park in the north part of the city. More than 1,000 students attend the school, which makes it the largest in Toledo. At Northeld Junior High, students can play a variety of sports from football to lacrosse. Students can also participate in many clubs. For example, our school has a very good musical club. The clubs performances are very popular in our city. Every year it performs a Broadway show. Students from other schools come to see the show because it is very good. I hope that gives you a better idea about my school. I highly recommend Northeld Junior High for your exchange.
