Social relationships refer to the connections and interactions between late teens and young
adults with family, friends, romantic partners, peers, and community members. These
relationships involve emotional connections, communication, interdependence, shared
activities, and social support.

Social Media

For this research, social media refers specifically to social networking sites and messaging
apps, which are online platforms and tools that enable users to create, share, and interact with
content, information, and each other in a virtual environment, with a focus on platforms such
as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, and Snapchat, where late teens and young adults
form and maintain their social relationships.
