OBJECTIVE
Disaster management aims to reduce, or avoid the potential losses from hazards, assure prompt and
appropriate assistance to victims of disaster, and achieve rapid and effective recovery. At the end of
the project our aim is to how to manage an disaster
INTRODUCTION:-
A disaster affects natural life adversely by killing thousands of people and other lives. It also destroys a
wide range of habitat and property Disaster management is how we deal with the human, material,
economic or environmental impacts of said disaster, it is the process of how we “prepare for, respond
to and learn from the effects of major failures”.

TYPES OF DISASTER:-
Geological Disaster: Landslides, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tornadoes. Biological Disaster: Viral
epidemics, pest attacks, cattle epidemic, and locust plagues. Industrial Disaster: Chemical and industrial
accidents, mine shaft fires, oil spills, Nuclear Disasters: Nuclear core meltdowns, radiation poisoning.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT :-

DISASTER MANAGEMENT ACT:-
The Agency shall be the principal insitution for disaster management at the national level of
government. (2) The Objective of the Agency is to promote an integrated and coordinated system of
disaster management focused on decreasing vulnerability and increasing preparedness and imitigation
capacity.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT INDIA:-
Disaster management in India is a multifaceted and crucial endeavour to mitigate the impact of natural
and man-made calamities on the nation's population and infrastructure. India's geographic diversity
exposes it to many hazards, including earthquakes, floods, cyclones, and industrial accidents.
CASE STUDY:-
On August 6, 2010, in the dark of the midnight, there were flash floods due to cloud burst in Leh in
Ladakh region of North India. It rained 14 inches in 2 hours, causing loss of human life and destruction.
The civil hospital of Leh was badly damaged and rendered dysfunctional. Search and rescue operations
were launched by the Indian Army immediately after the disaster. The injured and the dead were shifted
to Army Hospital, Leh, and mass casualty management was started by the army doctors while relief
work was mounted by the army and civil administration.
CONCLUSION:-
Disaster management is crucial for minimizing the impact of disasters on lives, property, and the
environment. It involves a comprehensive approach encompassing risk assessment, preparedness,
response, recovery, and mitigation.
