Professional Development Project Guidelines

This project will borrow heavily from Part 2 (chapters 3 – 6), Designing Training from Employee Training and Development by Noe. It is work
100 points.
You will have the following to turn in for this project:

1. A needs assessment - What? Who? How? (Figure 3.4, p. 142) developed.

2. Learning outcomes – Write 3 to 5 clear and defined learning outcomes and Internal and External Conditions Necessary for Learning
Outcomes (Table 4.16, p. 194).

3. Design Document – Include details in an outline format the following:

SCOPE DELIVERY OBJECTIVES

-goal -content -resources (materials)

-audience -method -who is involved
-design time and checkpoints -training time -topical outline
-length of course -problems/opportunities -evaluation
-links to future training
See example Table 5.6 p. 226

4. Lesson plan – The detailed lesson plan translates the content and sequence of training activities into a guide that is used by the trainer to help
deliver the training. It does not matter the format as long as the following criteria are met:

- Learning Objectives/Outcomes
- Target Audience
- Prerequisites
- Time
- Lesson Outline
- Activity
- Support Materials
- Physical Environment Preparation
- Lesson Topic
- Evaluation
- Transfer and Retention

5. Training evaluation – Once again, you can decide if you will use a formative or summative evaluation. There are several examples in
Chapter 6.

6. PowerPoint – Put together a PowerPoint presentation of the Professional Development you have designed. You must include in your
presentation at least 3 items: a video, a student reflection activity, a story, a self-assessment, a short group activity, noncompetitive game.

I know this looks like a lot. Some of the parts you have completed already, and others are very quick and simple. Make something you can and
will use in the future if you are ever chosen to deliver a PD workshop.
