Proverbs 23:1 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what [is] before

99. The indifference with which the health books have been treated by many is an offense to God. To separate the health
work from the great body of the work is not in His order. Present truth lies in the work of health reform as verily as in other
features of gospel work. No one branch, when separated from others, can be a perfect whole.

The gospel of health has able advocates, but their work has been made very hard because so many ministers, presidents
of conferences, and others in positions of influence, have failed to give the question of health reform its proper attention. They
have not recognized it in its relation to the work of the message as the right arm of the body. While very little respect has
been shown to this department by many of the people, and by some of the ministers, the Lord has shown His regard for it by
giving it abundant prosperity. {CD 73.1}
When properly conducted, the health work is an entering wedge, making a way for other truths to reach the heart. When
the third angel's message is received in its fullness, health reform will be given its place in the councils of the conference, in
the work of the church, in the home, at the table, and in all the household arrangements. Then the right arm will serve and
protect the body. {CD 73.2}
But while the health work has its place in the promulgation of the third angel's message, its advocates must not in any way
strive to make it take the place of the message. {CD 73.3}

99*. La indiferencia con la cual han sido tratados los libros de salud por parte de muchos es una ofensa hacia Dios. El
separar la obra que se hace en favor de la salud del gran cuerpo de la causa no está en el orden de Dios. La verdad
presente tiene que ver con la obra de la reforma pro salud tan ciertamente como con los otros rasgos de la obra evangélica.

El evangelio de la salud tiene defensores capaces, pero su labor ha sido muy dura debido a que muchos ministros,
presidentes de asociaciones y otros hombres que ocupan puestos de influencia han dejado de dar al asunto de la reforma
pro salud la debida atención. No la han reconocido en su debida relación con la obra del mensaje como la mano derecha del
cuerpo. En tanto que se ha mostrado muy poco respeto hacia este departamento por parte de muchos miembros, y de
algunos de los ministros, el Señor ha manifestado su consideración por ella dándole abundante prosperidad.
Cuando se la dirige en forma debida, la obra en pro de la salud es una cuña de entrada, que abre camino para otras
verdades a fin de alcanzar el corazón. Cuando el mensaje del tercer ángel es recibido en su plenitud, la reforma pro salud
recibirá su lugar en los consejos de la asociación, en la obra de la iglesia, en el hogar, en la mesa, y en todos los arreglos de
la casa. Entonces el brazo derecho servirá y protegerá el cuerpo.
Pero aun cuando la obra pro salud tiene su lugar en la promulgación del mensaje del tercer ángel, sus abogados no deben
de ninguna manera luchar para hacerle tomar el lugar del mensaje.

and the laws of health go hand in hand. It is impossible to work for the salvation of men and women without presenting to
them the need of breaking away from sinful gratifications, which destroy the health, debase the soul, and prevent divine truth

"Let the diet reform be progressive. Let the people be taught how to prepare food without the use of milk or butter. Tell them
that the time will soon come when there will be no safety in using eggs, milk, cream, or butter, because disease in animals is
increasing in proportion to the increase of wickedness among men. The time is near when, because of the iniquity of the
fallen race, the whole animal creation will groan under the diseases that curse our earth." C.H. 478. same as "Testimonies for

"Greater reforms should be seen among the people who claim to be looking for the soon appearing of Christ. Health reform
is to do among our people a work which it has not yet done. There are those who ought to be awake to the meat-eating, who
are still eating the flesh of animals, thus endangering the physical and spiritual health. Many who are half converted on the
question of meat-eating go from God's people, to walk no more with them." -- "Counsels on Health," p. 575.

"The time will come when we may have to discard some of the articles of diet we now use, such as milk and cream and
eggs; but it is not necessary to bring upon ourselves perplexity by premature and extreme restrictions. Wait until the
circumstances demand it, and the Lord prepares the way for it.

"...I am instructed to tell them to eat that food which is most nourishing. I can not say to them: 'You must not eat eggs, or
milk, or cream. You must use no butter in the preparation of food.' The gospel must be preached to the poor, but the time has
not yet come to prescribe the strictest diet."--Testimonies, Vol. 9, pp. 162, 163.
