ADORATION CHAPEL
"Perpetual Adoration brings heaven's choice blessings in the first place on those generous souls that keep their hour-long tryst with the Lord. Being such a powerhouse of grace, Perpetual Adoration extends it's influence far beyond the individual adorers, touching their homes and families and reaching out to the parish community and beyond." Please call Jenny Morgan at 721-8871 or Sandy Rongish at 990 -6647 if you would like to sign up. The Adoration Chapel/Cry Room is open for visits 24 hours a day. He is living there. He wants us to speak to Him.

The human being is to be respected and treated as a person from the moment of conception; and therefore from that same moment his rights as a person must be recognized, among which in the first place is the inviolable right of every innocent human being to life. The Gospel of Life, section 60 On this anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the above words from Blessed Pope John Paul II remind us that when we pray for and work toward an end to abortion, we are not only seeking to overturn a law, but also to bring about a conversion of the heart. A conversion in which we recognize, uphold and defend the gift of life given to us by God. Life created by God that begins at the moment of conception and ends with natural death. God created man in his image, in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them. (Gen 1:27) We have been created in the divine image and likeness of God. The image we share with God is the image of love. St. John says simply God is Love. In love he creates us, in love he sends his son to save us and in love he leads us to everlasting life. It is in this love that we are called to protect all life. This weekend as we mark the anniversary of legalized abortion many from our diocese will be in Topeka and Washington to participate in marches for life. We ask God that through their efforts, the hearts of those who make decisions against the protection of life will be converted to make decisions according to Gods commandment of love. These are clear and visible signs of our desire to protect life. We are called to do this not just this one day a year but whenever our Lord calls us to uphold and defend life. In our daily conversations with family, friends and coworkers we may find ourselves in discussions about abortion, euthanasia, contraception and cloning. How do we respond in these situations? Do we remain silent or do we speak up and defend life. If we are uncertain on how to defend the arguments I suggest you read Beginning Apologetics 5; How to Answer Tough Moral Questions. This series can be found online at www.CatholicApologetics.com. Or you can study the Catechism of the Catholic Church sections 1691 2557 on morality. I would encourage all to attend Mass on Monday the 23rd as we give thanks to God for the gift of Human life and seek to offer penance for sins against life. Throughout this month, let us pray often the Prayer for Life. Loving God, creator of all life, You have known us from all eternity. Before You ever formed us in our mothers womb You knew us. Teach us to foster proper attitudes about all of Your creation and to value all people including the unborn, persons with disabilities, the terminally ill. Help us to see anew the miracles and sacredness of all life and give us a greater awareness of our responsibilities toward this gift from you. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

~Pope Paul VI

Stewardship

Throughout history individuals have answered the personal call they received from the Lord. Jonah was reluctant at first, but followed Gods call to warn the people of Nineveh about the coming doom. As Jesus began his ministry of bringing the Good News to mankind he called Simon and Andrew and James and John. Once called by Jesus they dropped what they were doing and followed the Lord. After spending time listening to Jesus and watching Him these disciples were ready to continue the work of spreading the Gospel. May our ears be open when Jesus calls and may we respond with the promptness of the fishermen from Galilee.

THOUGHTS FROM THE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

Heres a New Years resolution for you. Resolve to be a good steward by supporting our outstanding Scouting and Youth organizations and reaping some delicious rewards in the process. The Cub Scouts served pancakes two weeks ago; the Boy Scouts are serving Chili this weekend; the Girl Scouts have their Chicken and Noodle Dinner next weekend; and word has it the Little Flowers have something coming as well. It tastes great and it is all in the spirit of Stewardship. Besides, those resolutions to lose weight never really work anyway, do they?
