CEAT orgs tambayan move to EE building
In accordance to the project of the CEAT SC, the renovation of the CEAT Student Lounge, all tambayans were relocated to the Electrical Engineering building. The lounge will be renovated for two to three months long and a canteen shall be installed in the EE building as well. The SELES tambayan was the first one to move last August 26. Among the members who made the relocation possible were Gamaliel Javier III, John Edkhalil Alvarez, Cezar John Estrada, Russel Villatuya and Leomel Abas. Also, John Davis Mangubat (President) and Andreo Lozada II (Vice President), helped in moving the tambayan.

EE Department reaps silver in Legal Minds

The Electrical Engineering department ranked 2nd place in Legal Minds - an inter-department engineering debate hosted by the UPLB Society of Chemical Engineering Students (SChemES) - held last August 31 at the Makiling Ballroom Hall, Student Union (SU) building, UPLB. The five members of the EE debate team consisted of Andrea May Caguete, Justine Trisha Contreras, Ganyfer Dorado, John Davis Mangubat, and Michael Joseph Samson all from UPLB SELES. The debaters were trained by their coaches Engr. John Paolo Ramoso and Engr. Karen-Christian Agno. Both of them are members of the EE department faculty. On the first round, the EE department debated against the IE department. The first topic discussed was Should engineering undergraduates be allowed to be employed given an opportunity? For this round the EE department won against IE department. The second round of debate had been against the ChE department on the topic of Should English language be imposed on engineering classes? The EE department lost by approximately 3% against the ChE department. When the average scores on each debates had been tallied and summarized, the EE department had the highest average

among all other departments with one lost in status. Due to this, the EE department entered the final round. In the final round, the EE department debated against the ChE department on the topic of Should Engineers be allowed to send a proxy to earn CPE points?, in which the EE department lost and led the Chemical Engineering department win the 1st place. Despite this, the EE faculty congratulated the debate team for their achievement. The panel of judges consisted of the new College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology (CEAT) dean, Dr. Arnold R. Elepao, together with faculties from different colleges in the university. Legal Minds is part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the UPLB SChemES, held annually.
