Friends of Little sutton station have
been busy planting winter pansies after
Merseyrail installed some planters and
Cheshire West and Chester Council
provided the plants to brighten up the
platforms.
Local st Pauls Councillor Ben Powell
who joined in with the planting said:
Myself and other volunteers shared a fantastic morning planting colourful fowers and I
even managed to pick up a few gardening tips to try out at home!
Hopefully, if we keep up this work into 2012, the station might once again have award
winning gardens that we can all enjoy.
sally ralston, Corporate social responsibility Manager at Merseyrail said: The work
of station Friends makes a positive contribution to our stations passengers really
appreciate the changes at
Little sutton.

Vandals force council to close toilets
THe public toilets in Whitby Park have experienced a number of vandal attacks over
the winter causing major disruption to opening times.
Major damage to doors, locks and toilets, as well as external parts of the building,
have been carried out over the past few months
and the Councils Greenspace team are
undertaking repairs to minimise disruption for
park users.
Local member for Whitby, Councillor Brian Jones
said: The Parks toilets have experienced a spate
of vandalism this winter which has resulted in
reduced opening times for park users.
it seems a shame that the mindless actions of a
few should spoil the visitor experience for all. We
are now installing new and much stronger locks to make them more secure.
The public are being advised that alternative public toilets are available in the
town centre until regular opening and closing time resume once repairs have been
completed.
Local member for Whitby, Councillor Bob Crompton, said: We will now work to
fnd a more permanent solution to the recent mindless vandalism that the park has
experienced. Additional patrols will be undertaken by the Councils Community
safety team to help monitor the park and we are encouraging park users to notify the
council if they see anything suspicious by phoning 0300 123 7033.

WHen it comes to reviving
the UKs high streets
ellesmere Port is ahead
of the game thats the
strong message from
the towns development
Board.
The Board has now
secured funding to appoint
a town centre manager for
ellesmere Port, initially on
a two-year contract funded
jointly by Cheshire West
and Chester Council and
Marks and spencer.
Chairman robert Mee,
said: The Board was set
up to help ellesmere Port
continue to be a great
place to live, work and do
business and we have
recently been working to
implement town centre
improvements and install
the right person to carry
these plans out.
Revival
The new role of town
centre manager holds a
lot of responsibility, both
fnancial and community-
driven, and as highlighted
in Mary Portas report to
Government this strategic
management really can
make a difference in
reviving high streets.
ellesmere Port is starting
to reap the benefts from
recent developments in
the education, retail and
employment which have
cemented positivity about
the towns future. Further
work must now take place
to build on this growth
and ensure economic
longevity.
We are trying to do all
we can to help retailers in
these diffcult economic
times and the new town
centre manager post will
provide businesses with
a dedicated person to
help make improvements
happen.

BEX
This young all white male cat came to us as a stray. Can you offer him his ideal
home? He is very friendly and loves attention. An experienced cat owner is
needed as he sometimes gets overexcited and will give you a little nip but
usually it is only in play. Because of this we would not consider homing him with
a family with young children
Bex is about two years old he is neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped.

Stanley is three years old and very friendly. Unfortunately Stanley has the FIV
virus so must be kept as an indoor cat. He will make a very loyal and loving
companion. He follows his fosterer around everywhere and when she sits down
Stanley thinks it is especially so he can sit on her lap. Stanley is the perfect
companion, he is happiest on your knee, or on the newspaper you are trying to
read.

Cats with FIV make ideal indoor companion animals.

Blue is this handsome boy is a bit on the nervous side but then who wouldn't
be after finding himself shut out of his home in the coldest of weather, when
his owner moved out and left him behind.

We are looking for a new loving home for Blue without children or other pets,
where he can take time to settle.

South Wirral Cats Protection have a number of cats who desperately need a home.
Can you give a cat a home?
KANGA: Friendly boy who likes a fuss.
Kanga is a friendly boy who likes a fuss, and
our fosterer says he is a lap cat. He is playful
and affectionate but also happy to be left on
his own
He will be happy with anyone who will give him
time to overcome initial shyness, and would
suit an older person/couple
Kanga is four years old, and is suitable to live
with a mature family, a couple or person on
their own
Ref: H11-54
TIMMY: Friendly lad with a big purr
Timmy is currently residing in the conservatory of the
family who gave him shelter when he found himself
lost. They cannot offer him a permanent home. He is a
friendly boy with a big purr
As nothing is known of his history a home without young
children or other pets is sought for Timmy
Ref: H11-02
KITTY: Owner could no longer care for her due to ill health
Kitty needs a new home because her owner has health
problems. Kitty is now in our care with one of our fosterers as
she was having to live in the conservatory and consequently
was spending most of the day without companionship. She is
a bit timid with people she does not know so initially she will
be shy. She is four years old. We are looking for a home for her
with no other pets. Ref: H11-49

Residential or daily, full time or part time, permanent or temporary
Nannies & Mothers Helps
Finding the right type of child
care at the right price is a huge
problem for so many families
these days. Many parents are
going back to work when their
children are quite young and
therefore it is so important to
know that they entrust the care of
their precious little people to an
experienced and reliable person.
Maternity Nurses
having a new baby is of course a
joyous experience but it can also
be very stressful. Getting into a
routine with your new born baby
is crucial to everyones happiness,
but is not always straight forward.
Feeding demands, sleepless nights
and coping with the emotions of
giving birth do not make it any
easier. if you are having your
frst baby, a Maternity Nurse can
be a huge reassurance, providing
you with expert knowledge and
guidance. if you already have
other children, we all know how
important it is to get of to a good
start, and having a Maternity Nurse
would be an invaluable help with
the additional demands of a new
baby arriving in the home.
Au Pairs
we provide au Pairs to families
throughout the country. as a family
business we know only too well the
difculties of fnding the right type
of childcare for our children. life
can be a continuous juggling act
between work commitments and
family priorities. having an au Pair
can be a very cost efective solution.
Te Bunbury Care agency is a
member of Te association of
Nanny agencies (aNa) and the
British au Pair agencies association
(BaPaa). all our Child carers are
recruited in line with their Codes
of Practice.

Q. What is the best top coat to use over nail
varnish?
A. i really rate seche vite as the best top coat. it is hailed as the
Worlds number one top coat and its no mean feat to achieve
a label like that! it has achieved this status because its special
formula penetrates through the layers of varnish right down to
the base coat forming a single solid coating over the nail plate
giving a more durable fnish. Its guaranteed not to yellow, and
resists chipping and peeling extremely well. We have used it
to fnish our manicures and pedicures for several years now
and clients like the fact that it also has a fast dry
ingredient which means they dont have to spend
ages letting their nails dry! As a homecare product
its economical to use with its three-in-one formula
of hardwearing top coat, high gloss fnish and fast
dry effect.
Q. I am in my late 40s and fnding I
have a few wrinkles on my forehead
and between my eyebrows and a
dull-looking skin. Would injectible
wrinkle softening treatments be a good
alternative to facials for me?
A. injectible wrinkle softening treatments, such
as Botox are not a substitute for facials, but are
more often used in conjunction with them. The
injectible treatments will have a dramatic effect
on eliminating or reducing the lines, in fact there
is nothing else like them to address wrinkles once
they have formed. However, they will not improve
your overall dull skin condition. A good facial with
a thorough exfoliating element to it combined with
a sensible home care routine will help to brighten
your skin giving a more youthful appearance to
compliment your injectible treatments. For more
information on how injectible wrinkle softening
treatments work visit the newsletter page for

Setting up home with a partner Part Two
you will have a chance to discuss with your
solicitor the history of your relationship, and
the details of your assets and those of your
partner.
your solicitor will explain your rights. Tey will
highlight the circumstances where you or your
share of the home could be at risk and will tell
you what action is to consider taking to avoid
this.
of course, a solicitor can only act for one
partner at a time. Tey are there to help you
fnd the best way of safeguarding your interests
and your future.
Tis is especially important if you have
children.
Many parents dont realise that if they are not
married only the mother has automatic parental
responsibility for the child. a solicitor can
help you make an agreement to share parental
responsibility with your partner.
Te law is currently changing so that if you
jointly register the birth, the father has parental
responsibility as well. you can check with your
solicitor to fnd out whether this applies to you.
your solicitor can also explain what it means
for you and your partner if one or both of you
has children from a previous relationship, as
the law does not automatically give parental
responsibility to cohabiting partners.

FEBRuaRy FloWERS
GardeninG by JaneT HeaTH
February can be a month of contrasts
ranging from severe cold to balmy sunny
spring weather. Whatever the
weather, you should fnd
hellebores, snowdrops and
crocuses fowering with
the promise of spring
around the corner.
Winter fowering
clematis such as
Clematis armandii
or Clematis cirrhosa
varieties may be starting
to fower now. Large
plants can be pruned by
cutting back old wood to
large buds and removing
weak or older shoots whilst
leaving newer growth.
For those who are keen
to grow vegetables now
is the month to get your
seed potatoes and set
them out in seed trays in
a cool light place to chit.
This starts the new shoots
growing ready to plant out
in March. If you want lovely
new potatoes in June,
then choose a frst early
variety such as accent
or for later, try Kestrel.
you can also warm
the soil where they are
intended to grow by
covering it with black
plastic. This will raise
the temperature of the soil
slightly and you can plant
the potatoes through holes cut
in the plastic. another growing
method is to plant 3 seed potatoes in a large
robust plastic bag situated outdoors, in which
you have placed potting compost such
as John Innes No 3. as the shoots
grow up, add more compost
and keep well watered then
be ready to harvest when
the frst fowers grow. You
can buy potato planting
grow sacks or kits if you
do not have enough space
in the garden to grow
potatoes.
by late February you can plant
seeds of tomatoes, cucumbers
and peppers indoors and get
the seedlings growing ready
for transplanting into a
greenhouse or outdoors
in sheltered spots. I grow
tomatoes outdoors and
fnd that they do ripen by
the early autumn if you
are prepared to wait. you
can continue to ripen green
tomatoes indoors in October
provided they are in a warm
place. My favourite varieties
are Sweet Million for tasty
cherry tomatoes, Outdoor
Girl or for a change of
colour any of the yellow
varieties. There are some
tomato varieties that do
well in pots or hanging
baskets such as Tumbler,
Tumbling Tom (red and
yellow) or Garden Pearl so
try planting a tomato in with
your petunias this year!
