Assessment: (Assessments must match objectives. How will you know that students achieved each objective?) The students will: Students will be assessed on their written work. They will achieve mastery when they are able to correctly write the letter 'u'.

Students will write the letter 'u' by itself, as well within words.

Teacher will write the letter 'u' on the white board in front of the class and tell the students they will be learning to write it. Students will be given small white boards and markers that they will first practice writing the letter on. Development (What will you do? What will students do? Include your teaching strategies, management strategies and transitions.) Students will be instructed to use the white board and practice writing the letter 'u'. It will be demonstrated on the

board and explained. Students will then practice writing the letter on their white boards. Once they write it 5 times, they must show the teacher before moving on to the next activity. Students who are finished will then be asked to complete a worksheet made by the teacher that allows them to practice writing the letter 'u' within different words.

Closure (How will you bring closure to the lesson?) If time allows, students will be able to come up with a few words on their own (writing them on the whiteboard or paper) using only the cursive letters they have learned thus far.
