Introduction
Boreda woreda is one of the woreda found in Gamo zone and most its topography of the
areas highly exposed to erosion which resulted in natural resource depletion due to various
reason, such as deforestation, over grazing, poor farming system, and depletion of water
resources are the major threatening factors. The impact of devastation of natural resources
affects the life of rural communities because of their heavy reliance on environmental
resources by affecting the productivity of other critical resources, such as crops, livestock,
and forest & water resources. Considering the above burning issues organizing training on
soil and water conservation management is found very crucial.
The purpose of the planned activity is to train participants about the natural degradation
cause and effects observed in the woreda and how to reclaim the degraded natural resources.
As a result this training is prepared to train 100 farmers, drawn from five (5) BOIRDP
operational kebeles/catchments.

Training methodology
For three consecutive days the training will undertake in the class room lecture on the topic,
group discussion and experience sharing among the participants and last day practical
exercise training will be carried out on the field at appropriate catchment identified.
1, Course Title
Farmers training on natural resource conservation and management
2, Venue: - The training will be given at Woreda Capital at appropriate place (Woreda hall/
school)
3, Duration: - The training is planned to be conducted for four consecutive days from
February 18-21,2023.
4, Objective of the trainings
- To provide participates the causes of natural resource degradation at
Boreda woreda.(create awareness for the farmers on NRM & effects)
- To build up the knowledge of participants (farmers) how to reclaim the
natural resource of the area.
- To equip the trainees on the techniques of soil and water conservation
measures (practical training on different structures).
5, Trainers: -Two trainer/ facilitator will be from Boreda woreda agricultural office. The
educational back grounds of the trainer are related to Natural resource management. The
MfM SLM department will be expected to assist the trainers in organizing and coordinating
the overall training program
6, Participants
The training participants will be selected from five (5) project identified catchments which
are: Dega Awussato, Kodo Muko, Damboo, Gorami Walqo and Chilibie kebeles are
identified for intervention for the year 2023 based on catchments approach. Accordingly, 100
farmers are drawn from these kebeles or catchments will be participated on this training.
7, Training methods and materials
Since the training is on natural resource conservation & management and its technical
realization, the training method to be used is participatory. Regarding the training language
local language (Gamugna) is intended to be used during the training sessions.

department heads to review the weekly achievements and plan for forthcoming weeks.
Program review meeting will be arranged on monthly basis with all technical staff to assess
the progress of planned activities. Similarly, quarterly internal evaluation meetings will be
organized every three months to critically examine the performance of the project. This
forum will be used to present the major constraints faced during implementation and
solutions sought to overcome those constraints. All field staff will be responsible to
produce daily field visit report for further review by departments, to arrange timely
supportive action and to promote smooth implementation of the project interventions.
Moreover, assessment will be carried out by the project and PCO management. PCO
management will oversee the progress and success of the implementation through review
of project progress reports, regular visits and field observations, discussion with key
stakeholders and target communities. The monitoring system is part of the project cycle in
learning and improvement processes of the project.

Subject: Proposal for review meeting

GK sustainable Livelihood Development Project commenced its development
intervention in 11 Kebele of the woreda since December 2015.Consecutive project
progress monitoring with different stakeholders were conducted so far. Now, we are
found on end of first phase and it has great important to trace project effectiveness,
efficiency, sustainability and Impacts. Hence, the project planned to conduct project
evaluation with woreda level sector offices on 01/11/2019 to 03/11/2019 for three
consecutive days.
Therefore, you kindly requested for the approval of budget birr 38,152.5(Thirty
Eight thousand one hundred fifty two and 50/100)
Therefore, Detail of the training proposal attached with this memo for your kind
approval.

With best Regards,

GG
To ensure sustainability of seedling production at private owned nursery level, the project
has encouraged and supporting two individual owned nurseries for seedling production
which serve for income source and for plantation. In the year, the project has supported two
individual owned nurseries to produce different tree species. Accordingly, in these two
private owned nurseries 35,390 different tree species (at kolu nursery = 25,140 and at Fello
nursery =10,250 seedlings) were produced in the year 2021. To strength these two private
owned nursery beneficiaries purchasing these produced tree seedling from the owner
beneficiaries are found very important.
Hence, I kindly request your approval to purchase the above mentioned amount of seedlings
that produced in both nurseries to distribute for project needy beneficiaries.

deficiency coupled with poor genetic makeup of local breeds and prevalence of diseases as well as
poor management has contributed a lot for the reduction of productivity. In the project area,
shortage of animal feed and unwise use existing natural grazing system (free grazing) much
contributed for low productivity. To improve the situation, training the project targeted
beneficiaries in forage development and management as well as utilization practice found very
crucial. In addition, Breed improvement and management also include in the topics during
training undertaking.

problems in to consideration, the project has planned to promote high
yielding vegetable seed varieties and introduce highland fruit (grafted
apple seedlings) for residence at highland farmer’s and grafted
avocado and papaya seedlings plantation for middle highland and low
land farmers who have been taken appropriate training on improved
way of production and management methods. In addition, coffee
agronomy practices will include in the training topics. Accordingly, this
training is prepared to train 100 farmers from 11 kebele
administration will participate on vegetable and highland fruit
production and management for four consecutive days.

order to address land scarcity.
Methodology of the training:-
For three consecutive days the trainees’ will attend theoretical training
in the class and last day practical training will be carried out on the
field. They exercise how to prepare pits and spacing standard for
apple, avocado, papaya and coffee seedlings plantation.

Component of the training;-

 Agroforestry establishment and its importance

 How and what to integrate different crops as agroforestry
components to increase production regarding to Boreda crop
pattern.
 Economic benefits from agroforestry components
 How to prepare pits for plantation of seedlings like grafted
avocado and apple, papaya, Enset and coffee seedling with
proper spacing.
 Major problems that hindered crop production of the woreda.

Dear Ato Tesfalidet,

As per Action plane of Boreda-IRDP year 2023, Human

Development department has planned to conduct for 40

beneficiaries’ on-site training in home management practices and

other related activities. The training has planned to be conducted

on-site training from June14, 2023 at Messa Buteza intervention

On-site training of home Management

1. Introduction

The environment hygiene of most rural houses is very poor, because of

poor partitioning and the culture of domestic animals and human
residing in the same house. Thus, partition of houses and installation of
improved stove is key activities to be continued during this period. In
addition, improving the general hygiene situation of the rural household
is one way of promoting better health for the community.
In order to improve personal and environmental hygiene home
management plays a great role. Accordingly, on-site training will be
provided for 40 women including their husbands as part of home
improvement and other related issues.

2. Objectives :-
