CASE SCENARIO:
Paolo Cruz & Linda Cruz are married for 10 years & have five children. They lived in a slum
area in Tondo, Manila. Paolo Cruz is a tricycle driver, he works for 15 years with a daily income
of P500 a day – he was able to provide the basic needs of his family.
When the father was driving home after work, he got in an accident & suffered a leg injury which
caused the father to stop working. Linda & her husband came to a decision that Linda will be the
one to provide for the family. Linda worked multiple jobs such as laundry woman, manicurist,
and selling vegetables at the market of Tondo, Manila. After being too isolated at home and
seeing his wife working multiple jobs, Paolo Cruz developed a habit of drinking alcohol too much
as a way of coping with his injury which caused the father to become addicted to alcohol thus
deteriorating his mental health. Being an alcoholic, caused him to continuously abuse his wife
and children like hitting them & shouting abusive words which then caused disruptions and
separations of the family. Linda verbalized “Hindi ko na kaya tiisin ang pananakit ng asawa ko
sa akin at sa mga anak namin.”
