Dashrath’s wife, Falguni Devi got seriously injured while carrying
water from across a hillock, and died a few months later.
Villagers of Gehaur (Gaya, Bihar) had been requesting the
authorities for years to create a passage way in this hillock but the
authorities paid no attention.
Finally, Manjhi decided to create a road all by himself and after a
hard work of 22 years (1960-1982) succeeded in his mission.
The distance between Gehlaur his village and Wazirganj was cut,
down to 10 Kms , a reduction of by app 45 Kms through his efforts.
