8.The volumes of two similar cones are 24 cm3 and 81 cm3.If the base area of the smaller cone is

9. A wall clock that loses 20 seconds after every hour was set to read the correct time on Tuesday

10. A chord AB of a circle centre O is 13 cm long and makes an angle of 35° with the radius
AO . Calculate,

11. The marked price of a blender was Ksh 10,500. A trader bought it at a discount of 15%. Find
the prize at which he must sell it in order to make a profit of 25%. (3marks)

18. Four towns are such P, Q,R and S are such that town Q is 120 km due east of town P. Town
R is 160 km due north of town Q. Town S is on a bearing of 330° from P and on a bearing of
280° from R.

22. Using a ruler and a pair of compasses only:
a) Construct a parallelogram PQRS, where 𝑃𝑄 = 10 𝑐𝑚, 𝑄𝑅 = 7𝑐𝑚 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ∠𝑃𝑄𝑅 =
150°. 𝐵𝑖𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑡 ∠𝑃𝑄𝑅 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ∠𝑆𝑃𝑅 so that the angle bisectors meet at X. (6 𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑠)
b) Construct a perpendicular from X to meet PQ at M. Measure XM. (2 𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑠)

23.Two alloys A and B are made up of Copper, Zinc and tin. In alloy A, the ratio of Copper to
Zinc is 3:2 and that of Zinc to tin is 3:5.
a) Determine the ratio, Copper: Zinc: tin. in alloy A. (2 𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑠)
c) The mass of alloy A is 250 kg. Alloy B has the same mass as alloy A, but the amount of
Copper is 30% less than that of alloy A. Calculate:
i) The mass of tin in alloy A (2 𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑠)
ii) The total mass of Zinc and tin in alloy B (3 𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑠)
d) Given that the ratio of Zinc to tin in alloy B is 3:8, determine the amount of tin in alloy B than
in alloy A. (3 𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑠)

24. The angle of elevation of the top of the tower from a point P which is 100m away from the
tower is 60°. From another point Q which is on the same side of the tower as P, the angle of
elevation of the top of the tower is 38°.
a) Draw a sketch to show the relative location of the tower, Points P and Q. (2 marks)
b) Calculate the height of the tower. (2 marks)
c) Calculate the distance of Q from the foot of the tower (3 marks)
d) From the top of the tower an aero plane was observed to be vertically above Q and at an angle
of elevation of 48° . Calculate its vertical height of the aero plane above Q. (3 marks)
