Yes,youareinatoughspot.Notonlydoyounothaveanoffer,butyoualsoprobablydidnthavemuchfunthissummerand areunderstandablydiscouragedaboutyourcareer.Unfortunately,youcantjustforgetaboutitbecauseitsonyourresume.A fewofmycoachingclientslandedtheirdreamsummerjobsbutdidnotgetafulltimeofferattheendofthesummer.Wehad tostrategizecarefullyhowtohandlethe2ndyearinterviewseason.Withlotsofplanningupfrontandafewpeptalksfrom friends,youcancomeoutoftheprocesswithagreatfulltimejob.HerearethesametipsIgavethem: Writeoutyoursideofthestoryandsticktoit Thereareundoubtedlymanyanglestoyoursummerstory.Avoidthetemptationtoexplaineverything.Youllonlysoundoverly defensive.Keepyourresponsesbriefandstraightforward;youdontwanttheinterviewertobeconfusedaboutwhat happened. Convertyourstoryinto15,30and60secondanswers Youllhearthisquestionfrequentlyinthefall:So,areyouthinkingaboutgoingbackto(yoursummercompany)fulltime?
